Related to this, do you throw yoursleves an engagement party?

Is that weird, and does it seem like you are askign for gifts or do people expect an engagment party?

The Knot wedding book I have says that the bride's family is given the first opportunity to throw an engagemnt party, but I don't think that's my family's thing.

On the other hand, his family was talking about some one else's engagement & said she was waiting for the couple to have an angagement party & they didn't, so she sent a gift , then she got an nvite right after. So I couldn't help but wonder, are they waiting for us to have one too?

We have been engaged less than 3 weeks.
We are probabaly getting maried in Oct. 04.

My mom hosted our e-party. I think technically someone is 'supposed to' throw you a party. But I really don't think it matters because the point of an e-party is not to get gifts, it's to celebrate your engagement and have the two families meet.

On another note -- if that is your final date -- we are date twins!!

ETA: Technically, my parents 'hosted' it, because they paid. But we were the ones who did all the planning and stuff. My parents live down in Florida, so it would have been too dfficult for them to do everything.
