Engagement Party

Ok... I am torn on having an Engagement Party or not... I don't know what to do...

Hence the poll....

If you do have an Engagement Party... What is the protocol... Do you invite everyone that is invited to the wedding???

We had a party at my parents house and invited family and close friends. Very casual

Re: Engagement Party

We had one with only close fam and friends (no parent's cousins, 2nd cousins, parents friends, co-workers, etc.) and it was around 50 people. We had it at my mom's house outside. It was great to see our families mingle and celebrate with everyone. I say do it!

We didn't...I sort of wish we did, but if I did I would have had a casual one with family and friends.

Re: Engagement Party

We had one. We had our closest family and friends there, about 110 people at The Garden City Casino in Garden City. It was on a Saturday afternoon, very casual.

You should only invite people that you know for sure will be invited to the wedding!

Re: Engagement Party

We had one almost a year ago, and we're not getting married until November of 07!! But it was so worth it. We had fun and the both families got to mingle, however, we are both pretty laid back and i didnt want anything to crazy, so we had a bbq in the yard with about 60 people, and yes, kids that we're probably not inviting to the wedding, BUT GO FOR IT!!!! If anything.. YOU'LL GET GIFTS!!

Re: Engagement Party

We had one. I wanted to have a party for our families to meet and to celebrate our engagement. It was lunch at a resturant. I loved it and would definitely do it again. I only invited close friends and family. We had around 45 people.

Here are pics and a mini review:

Re: Engagement Party

We are actually having ours on Saturday. It's a backyard party with about 100-125 people - family and close friends. It's very casual and laid back, but we really wanted something that so we could both celebrate - and my family loves a party!!
