Ok... I am torn on having an Engagement Party or not... I don't know what to do...
Hence the poll....
If you do have an Engagement Party... What is the protocol... Do you invite everyone that is invited to the wedding???

We had one. I wanted to have a party for our families to meet and to celebrate our engagement. It was lunch at a resturant. I loved it and would definitely do it again. I only invited close friends and family. We had around 45 people.
Me too! One of my favs. The service and food was excellent. I would have another party there in a hearbeat.

Only seated. Much better that way I think. All the food was hot and made fresh to order.

yeah you are right... I like sit down parties better...
But for some reason... my FH loves Buffets... Most likely b/c he gets up 5 million times to eat...

Don't go by what others did..it sounds like you really want to have one so go for it. Plan a small backyard BBq or something, maybe you could shoot for labor day weekend, that would be fun!! But ya gotta move on it!!

My Mommy really wants to through me and my FH one...
But on one hand I feel like it is a lot to ask of people b/c most likely they will bring gifts.
But on the other hand... I really want my family and my FH family to meet before the wedding... so everyone will be comfortable there...
I am so confused.

Just do it!! My mom wanted to throw us ours, so that everyone could meet and just have a grand ole time celebrating. The gifts were a bonus. Don't worry about that. Have a party and celebrate your engagement, it only happens once!!
