Hey Melissa! What feel are you going for?

For my graduation back yard party last year I bought a bunch of white wine glasses, red wine glasses and martini glasses, and filled them with colored sand. (Kinda like sand art sand) I used black and red as they were Cortland's school colors. I actually added glitter to the sand first to make them sparkle. Then poured it into the glasses some were solid color other's were layered and then topped them off with a votive candle stuck into the sand. I got tons of compliments on them too!

They came out really cute and were super cheap!! If you like the idea I have all the glasses you can borrow.

Just an idea

We are doing a backyard e-party...we are using pillar candles. I can't come up with a better idea of what to use other then candles

We are having a backyard barbecue celebration. I think FH's aunt is buying white flowers to put on the tables. IMO centerpieces for a casual backyard party isn't really necessary. I like the non-floral ideas... that way they don't attract bugs (hopefully)!

well i didnt think we were going to do centerpieces, but my mom keeps asking me what we can do, i don't think its really necessary because its in the backyard, but she keeps on insisting. so i figured i would ask what you girls have done for your e-parties

It doesn't sound to formal so what about just some balloons? That's what I had at mine, held at an American Legion hall. Again not very formal

yeah its not necessary but would be a cute touch! I like the idea that soontobecruz gave with the glasses filled with sand. sounds really cute!! Or you could do something with like seashells in the middle of the table

Re: Engagement Party

I dont think you necessarily need them for a backyard engagement party. FH and I are having an engagement party and we are not doing centerpieces in the backyard. If you are interested though you could do a triangular picture frame with 3 pics of FH and yourself that always looks cute.

Hi-I'm also having a backyard engagment party-BBQ style. I wasn't going to do centerpieces-actually the thought never came in my mind to. Probably just balloons all over the backyard. I didn't even know if we needed to get extra tables? was just gonna do a bunch of chairs; but it will be a pain and messy for everyone to just eat on their laps right?

Re: Engagement Party

We had a backyard EParty in June. My Mom made the centerpieces for the EParty which consisted of a ring of flowers and greens with a pillar candle in the middle. They turned out beautiful. Mom is in a garden club - so she was happy to do it and loves making arrangements, and that also kept our cost down....

maybe we will just do some balloons, i dont think we are having that many tables so i dont think it will be too much. thanks ladies for your ideas!

Yes...doing a popcorn favor 'he popped the question blah blah blah' and probably something else ring related. I'm doing the popcorn DIY...cute labels, cute bags, etc.

Re: Engagement Party

we are either doing windmills stuck into buckets of candy. or pictures of FH and I on shrinky dink paper attached to candle holders with citronellas (i have no idea how to do this- MOH is in charge). ours is backyard BBQ as well, so very casual. i dont even think you need centerpieces if you dont want!
