Engagement Party

How many of you guys are having them and how many aren't?

If you aren't having one........how come?

I had my engagement party in august

eta - FILs and FHs Aunt and Uncle paid for the engagement party - if we had to pay for it, we would not have had one.

I am not having one. We are paying for the wedding and if we had an engagement party we would be paying for that also. So we decided that we were not going to incur that expense.

My FH's parents are throwing one for us. If we had to pay for it on our own, then I'd probably be skipping it and putting the money towards the wedding.

I know my Mom would want to pitch in but FH is alllllll about everyone just giving us a gift after the wedding is over. He doesn't want to hear 'Well I paid for your engagement party so I have say in your wedding' and so on and so on.

If we did an engagement party we would pay for it so I think we aren't going to have one. I feel like I'm getting jipped though.....not with money but with my engagement if that makes sense.

I really wanted one, but the timing just wasn't going to work out when we would both be in NY at the same time. And FH's parents took us out to dinner, lol that was about all they would do.

we are having one in may. My parents and FIL are paying for it, but FH is doing the planning. I'm doing it cause all the parents want to, but i have enough going on that planning another thing wasn't going to happen for me.

My Engagment Party is just about a month away. Me and My Fiance are having it at the Shandon Court. I'm really excited its like a wedding b4 my wedding.

im not having one b/c we are technically already married LOL (civily through the court)

we never had one b/c weve been together so long and our long engagement ended up in a civil ceremony and now we are going all out and having a religious ceremony...i guess there wasnt a need for one...

i got engaged in july and we had our engagement party in december...i really wanted one and didnt want to have any regrets if i didnt...we paid for it ourselves also

i'm having one...but it's largely because FH is missing all the wedding stuff, and when he gets home I want to have something special that he can be a part of

We are having one, it was something that was important to FH. Our parents are hosting the party together, I don't think we would have had one it we had to pay for it ourselves. We are planning it for May.
