Now that our e-party is booked, I wish we weren't having one. We invited over 100 people and we are having it at Seaford KOC. As much as I'm looking forward to it, it has been more trouble and exhaustion than anything.
OMG I feel the SAME way!! It's so much extra work. I am having mine 3/30/13 and it's just so much extra little work. Inviting about 100 people and it's like having a mini wedding. Hoping only about 70 come but, just crazy how quickly small tasks add up![]()
Ours is a minimum of 100 and I don't know why we even felt it was necessary. My FH felt the need to literally invite every fried he has since they're a large never ending group. I have so many worries and I feel like I'm not acting on them like I should. I think I'm hoping it just disappears and doesn't happen!

We had an engagement brunch with about 75 people. It was definitely cheaper than a night time party. We kept it really simple and it definitely gave us a nice chunk of change for the wedding. We had about 20 people back at our place afterwards for some good old day drinking too lol.
We got engaged on 2/14 and had our engagement party on 4/20, so a little over 2 months later.

This, this and this!
We are having an engagement brunch in April at a local restaurant, and we are only inviting about 40 people. The price we got for a brunch was HALF of what some restaurants wanted for a sit-down dinner, or even a cocktail party! We really just wanted it to be a nice gathering so that our immediate families and the bridal party can all have a chance to meet each other. Nothing crazy because we simply don't have the money, and we're paying for it ourselves on top of it. We have a lot of older relatives who we really want to be at the party, so having it during the day just makes it easier for everyone to make it. Also, we are having an afterparty that night for the 'young' people!
We didn't register, I don't plan on doing it now, and from what everyone has been telling us - no one is even expecting to look for a registry for our party! Hoping to just put away any gifts we get into a joint account so we can start saving up for the wedding. I think you just have to do what works for you - we're all in such different situations that it's hard when you start comparing to what everyone else is doing.

Engagement party?
I really wanted a small and intimate engagement party bc I thought it would be an excellent way for the wedding party and 2 families to get to know each other. FH's parents offered to throw as an engagement party. The really pushed for a big party. It was on 1/19 at Pompei in West Hempstead... It was a Saturday night, cocktail hour, the whole 9.... and I had SUCH a blast... we made a decent amount of money lol.. and I am so extremely grateful... but I do wish I would of had the smaller luncheon with the nearest and dearest.

Engagement party?
We had an engagement party 2 months after we got engaged. It was August so we had it in FH parent's backyard with tents. We both have such large families we had 100 people there and the majority was family. We both had such a great time but we were thankful we didn't have a time limit because we barely saw eachother for the first 4 hours trying to talk to everyone and thank everyone for coming..after it started to die down was when we finally got to relax and hang out. A small party with just close family & the BP sounds so nice and when we were planning for it I almost wished we had done that (or had it at a place - I never realized all the little things involved) but in the end it was an awesome party. I also am hoping that now for the wedding we can enjoy ourselves a little more because we sat and spoke to everyone so much at the engagement party we can spend more time together on our actual wedding day instead of running around doing the whole meet & greet again.Welcome New Vendors
