Engagement party

Hey Ladies,

So we are planning to have our engagement party this April even though we have been engaged since July. My parents have been procrastinating in planning (they are paying for it). I feel like I should take it into my own hands now. We are still looking for a place to have it that isn't so expensive. We probably will have about 50 people (most all family) and we would like to stay in Suffolk county, since that is where we are from. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to have it? I feel like it is getting really close and people need to know. Thanks

Engagement party

I don't know of any places, since I'm from Queens, but if you need any suggestions for anything, let me know.

I did all of the planning myself, including floral arrangements and baking all the cake pops for the favors. Everything is easy as long as you plan ahead, and you have plenty of time!

Engagement party

We're having ours at a KoC--we invited way too many to have it at a restaurant. I'm learning now we should have kept it smaller, like you!
I also did everything myself, no planner necessary. I think I've seen a few people recommend Irish Coffee Pub on here for a place for an e-party in Suffolk. I know this probably wasn't much help, but I figured I'd try! Also, try to do as much as you can on your own. We did our own favors, place cards, centerpieces, etc. It made up in costs for what we paid for the actual hall.

Would you consider renting a hall and bring outside catering? There's a really nice Elks Lodge in Smithtown that I think is pretty easy to work with.

We had ours at FH's Firehouse and we did the majority of everything ourselves. Relatives made some dishes and we catered out the rest. we had 100 people and everything came out to being under $900.

My fiance is a volunteer fireman, and most firehouses have halls or VFW halls that are really reasonable! Using the fire hall at my fiance's firehouse cost us $250 but we got our deposit back of $200 after we cleaned up; so really it only costed $50 for the hall! Just a suggestion to look into! Good luck!! :)

We did ours with 60 people for less than 3K at Perabell in Patchogue on a Sunday. We added some upgraded options in so you can probably do it cheaper if you wanted. It was amazing.

We also had ours at Perabell on a Sunday evening! The chef, John, gave us an amazing cocktail style party with tons of delicious food. People were talking about the sliders and lobster rolls for days!
We also saved some money by keeping a tab at the bar which my parents paid at the end. Since we had lots of kids there, there was no point of paying to drink per head.

Do they have a room to rent?

I'm having mine in May at The Whales Tale at the Brittania Yacht Club.....they are in Northport on the water and very reasonable. We have eaten there a lot of times and never left disappointed. I would give them a try.

I am doing mine at the East Islip Hiberian Hall! It's really nice there (same town as Irish Coffee Pub) and very affordable!
