Engagement Party

Hi All!

So we just got engaged and think we want an engagement party but do not want to spend a lot of money. It would save us money if we could wait until it's warm out and have it at FH's home, so that would be about 5-6 months after our engagement. Is that weird?

Engagement Party

I don't think so, especially since the wedding is so far away. A lot of the advice on the internet says that your engagement party needs to happen within 1-2 months of the engagement, but I find that that's really hard to do if you have any intention of basking in the glow of your engagement! It took me 1-2 months to even get over the fact that it was for real!! Our party took place almost four full months after the engagement, and no one thought it was odd. (Engaged 3.1.14, e-party was 7.5.14, wedding will be 4.23.16) Long engagements kind of let you get away with this sort of thing anyway.

Engagement Party

I agree that long engagements let this not be weird. Family and friends will understand why you're waiting! Just enjoy ever minute!

Engagement Party

I have been to a couple engagement parties that were 'delayed' like that. I don't think it's weird at all! I think it's very common for people who are having them at home and need warm weather to accommodate everyone!

Engagement Party

My FH and I got engaged the end of August and are waiting until March to have the engagement party. I'm not big into rushing things since the wedding isn't until Sept of 16 and he had just started a new job and couldn't request off for 6 months. I thought it seemed strange at first but its what we could do so were just going with it.
