Me and my FH were engaged April 17 this year and have set a tentative date of Sept. 27 '08 and I was wondering what a good date for the engagement party is. We were thinking the end of august this year, or early september, but with our wedding so far away...is it too early? We haven't even registered yet (we don't even LIVE together yet so even if we WERE registered we don't have anywhere to keep it LOL). What are you guys doing? Do tell!

We got engaged on April 18th, 2006 and soon after we set a date for an e-party on September 9th, 2006. So I definately think your time frame is perfect.
As for registering, people gave me the idea of only registering for china, flatware and stenware (possibly a few frames or vases). That way it gives people who do not like giving cash gifts the opportunity to buy you something they know you will really love.
Dont worry about etiquette, do what right for you and your fiance. If we all focused on etiquette, we would all go insane before the big day for sure!

We got engaged on April 1, 2006 and our e-party is July 15, 2006. It works out well because I am a teacher, and once September hits, I would not have time for a party until next summer, and by then it will only be a year till the wedding and I will be NUTS! I also decided not to register because I didn't want the registry all bought up before my shower. Plus, I don't know what I would want or need just yet. I have an apartment with FH so we already have a lot but by next year I may need new cookware, for example.

Our engagement party is in 3 weeks.. YAY... and people have asked where we are registered. But we are not registering for another couple of months, atleast another 8 months.. I feel it is way to soon to register.. if they want to give gifts, they know us, and if not MONEY is acceptable

My engagment party is Aug 5th.na dgot engaged June 3rd. I wanted to have ti asap because, you are so excited, and just wnat to to shae it with everyone. Plus I figure, engaged in 2006. e-party in 06...... 2007 gives you all the time in the world for the misc. things you want to do for the wedding, and pay the bills of the wed.... then 2008, loose ties, stress free and WEDDING!!!! YAY!!!!!
