My engagement ring is also from zales... At first I had a little situation b/c of the appraisal vs. What he actually paid... But they figured it out and did the reasonable thing. I love my ring.
The only reason I told my FH to buy our stuff from zales (I work in the city right near the diamond district). But its because Zales have a lifetime guarantee on your diamond even if it gets lost... I am really bad at 'misplacing things' for me it was a no brainier for him to pay a little more in the mark up price (b/c I know they mark up more then any other jeweler) just to know that I had the re-assurance that I was always covered.
My wedding band is from Zales and its platinum... w/ diamonds and so are a lot of there other diamond engagement rings that are platinum not just 14 or 18k...
