Re: ensuring your ring.

FH did because he proposed in DR. I'm not sure how he went about it but I'll ask him!

Re: ensuring your ring.

FH had it insured before we went away (he proposed in Ireland) - He did it through All State and I think its part of a 'renters' insurance policy - only costs like $30/month - so far we haven't needed to use it - and we will likely drop the insurance after the wedding reception.

Re: ensuring your ring.

FH went into a State Farm Office....I think it's like $75 (but I'm not sure if that's for the year, half a year, of a quarter)

THIS! My ring is also insured through Jeweler's Mutual. I think I will continue to insure it because the thought of losing my ring or having it stolen makes my stomach turn. I'm a very nervous person so having the coverage just makes me feel better!

Re: ensuring your ring.

I'm pretty sure mine is jewelers mutual too but I'm not sure.

We just need to have it inspected every 6 months, and I like the coverage because say something tragic happens to the ring ,we get to pick out a new one and a new stone, we aren't just given one of the insured value, which was really important to FH because he spent hours figuring out the specific stone.

Re: ensuring your ring.

UGH I am having such a hard time with this!! My homeowners insurance will not accept the appraisal and my broker is like thats weird, you are switching companies.

So now she keeps tryin to re-rate it but I live in a flood zone so nobody else will insure us.

I'm thinking I might have to check out these other policies you guys have mentioned-- I'm just sad about adding another stupid bill and another payment to send.

Re: ensuring your ring.

Please Please Please insure your rings girls, it is so important, trust me from personal experience!

I highly recommend Jeweler's Mutual, they cover if anything happens to the ring.
I'm not positive but I believe if it is insured under your homeowner or renter insurance, the ring is only covered if taken from your home, not if lost or stolen in the street.

This. My homeowners policy told me that they would only cover the ring if it was stolen from my home.

I insured it 3 days after receiving it. I went through Jewelers Mutual, much cheaper than most agencies I quoted. Very professional service, and received my policy in about a week. Great service! Highly recommended!
