envelope addressing question

I've seen two different answers on different websites...

If I'm inviting an unmarried couple that lives together, should their names be written as

Ms. Jane Doe and Mr. John Smith

Or

Ms. Jane Doe
Mr. John Smith

thanks!

Re: envelope addressing question

I saw on an etiquette site that you do one name on top of the other and it should be in alphabetical order, not by whom your better friends with.

Re: envelope addressing question

if they live together, def the woman's name first. if they don't live together but you want both their names on it, the person who's address it is goes first

Re: envelope addressing question

I did it Mr. Joe Smith and Ms. Jane Doe (with the 'main' person invited listed first, alphabetically if they were both friends or ours).
