Ever feel like you are never going to close?

So we bid on the house in Feb, went to contract Feb 28 and still have no closing date. Our 'on or about' date was only May 30th, but I just want to get in.....took me 9 months to find the place - I am just getting anxious.......

Sorry - needed to whine.

We are waiting too, but by our choice. Even though it is our choice I still feel like this too.

We have a hold up cause the sellers never got the extensions on their house inspected by the town so now to close, they are doing it. It takes sooooo long to get all this done. We still don't have a closing date and its been over 2 months since we found the house. Soon enough.

Sounds frighteningly familiar This was our story:

Bid accepted Nov. 18 with verabl agreement to close on or BEFORE Feb 15. We were moving from Boston, I was starting my job here in a few weeks and I only had 3 months in the corporate apartment, so we HAD to close or I'd be living in my car.

At contract a few weeks later, they changed their verbal agreement to be on or ABOUT Feb. 28 and we couldn't get them to budge.

Fast forward from Nov. to January. Our realtor worked with the listing realtor so we're getting all the gossip. She hasn't found a place yet, the evil boyfriend is finding something wrong with every house she wants to buy (theory was that he wanted her to get into an apartment so he could have access to her cash, which later turned out to be what happened)

Now it's mid Feb and they need the apartment for a VP they've hired. I end up staying at DH's Grandmother's in Queens (did I mention that I'm working in Suffolk - about 50 miles away) (Did I also forget to mention that DH is still living in Boston all this time - he sells insurance for the Knights of Columbus and needed a home office in his territory, which is kind of hard without a home in the territory. Thank God our landlord in Boston was so wonderful - he told us we could stay their month-to-month as long as we gave him 30 days notice)

So not we've hit Feb. 28 and no closing date in site - fast forward to late MARCH - reaching the 30 day 'free' extension the 'about' refers to. At this point our lawyer sends a letter saying that if they don't set a closing date NOW we are setting it for April 15, and if they don't show up we're filing a lawsuit to force the closing.

We heard that she freaked out at that point, thinking we couldn't force her out if she had nowhere to go, and her agent told her YES, I've been telling you this all along, you SIGNED A CONTRACT!!!. She finally settled on an apartment and set the closing date for the end of April, because the apt. wouldn't be available til then. So 2 months after our on-or-about date we finally closed after threatening to sue.

And we found out later from the neighbor that she was complaining that we were forcing her out and that she thought she could stay until her son finished the school year in JUNE!!!
