everyone needs to be careful

so my mom called me and told me my dad came home last night and he didnt want to say much so i called him from work today and asked him what happned.. he said 'u dont want to know' he was going to brooklyn to see family that had come from pr to visit he got lost coming going there and while there someone crashed the front of his new pickup truck,(this happened in brooklyn) then he was a few minutes away from home... on brentwood rd. in brentwood - long island...stopped at a red light.. he said someone pulled up next to him and got out and was asking for directions so my dad opened the window the next thing he knows the guy pulled a gun to my dads head and named the gang he was in.. they were going to shoot my dad in the head ... but he must have an angle watching over him because a car pulled up behind him and the gang members jumped in there car and left... i just found this out .. and im in tears.. my dad could have been killed last night.. i just told my boss who is a criminal attorney and he said that this type of thing is known with this gang.. its there way of initiating people.. ooo my god.. my dad... ahhhhhhh i dont know what to feel ... im so upset

omg!!!!! that is so scary. i agree, everyone needs to be cautious at all times. i'm so sorry this happened, but so glad your Dad is ok!!

that is awful!!! i had a slightly similar experience in queens once...no guns though....i am sooooooooooo glad your dad is ok......i just can't imagine!

OMG!! I'm sitting here in shock! I know that these gangs do crazy **** but this is truly the first I've heard of anything like this....what the hell is going on around here?! I'm so thankful that he is ok!! Sending tons of your way....I'm just in such disbelief right now

Just goes to show that you can't be nice anymore, if someone gets out of their car you can't roll down your window; you just can't trust people in this world.

OMG! I'm so sorry! I'm sure it's so tough to think of your dad in that situation, but THANK GOD nothing happened!

It's weird... my mom is so PARANOID when it comes to people. She will NOT answer the door for anyone, and if a family member accidentally does for some door-to-door guy, she yells at us (embarrassingly) and sends them away and closes the door on them. I always yell at my mom saying she doesn't have to be so rude, the guy was just trying to do his job, etc. But, you know what... your dad thought he was being nice by giving a stranger directions - and look where it got him. We just have to realize the world isn't as safe as we would hope and we can't be so naive. From now on, NO ONE gets directions. Make a sign that says 'Get Tom Tom' and drive away.

I hope your family is okay today... especially your dad.
