Hyundai Sante Fe - great on gas mileage, has the cargo space for a family, dependable and safe as it has side and front airbags throughout the car (including back) - more affordable than any of the american priced SUVs.

I'm so sorry- that's really horrible. If you're interested in a preowned car - my fiance is selling his 2001 Nissan Pathfinder. It's in awesome conditions. He's an NYC cop and drives an old crapy car to and from work. He really only drive the Pathfinder on the weekends. (this is why he's looking to sell it). If you're interested I could give you more info. He's asking about $16,500. It's silver and has about 54,000 miles on it.

The Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra are both great on gas and reasonably priced for new cars. You can also look into the Hyundai line they have a great warrantee.
HTH
Good Luck with your search.

That's what I drive right now! Granted, I've had it for two years now and only has 7600 miles on it......

But I do love it and i find it great on gas.

Also, try Toyotas! GREAT on gas and reliable cars!!!!! I had a tercel and when I filled my tank, I was able to drive on that full tank for weeks!

Hey Justine,

I'm so sorry to hear that your car was declared a total loss.

Maybe this happened for a reason- now that you have learned about coverages, what you need, what you should have and just how much damage can happen to a car in such a relatively small impact...

Vinny was in a bad accident that totaled his car recently and he just bought a new Honda CR-V. It is great on gas mileage, reliable and no other car on the road holds its value like a Honda does. The new body style is nice looking too. I also like it because it's a little bit bigger and safer than the 'average car'... I would not feel safe with him in a Civic or something really small like that (not after his accident). The Police said one of the main reasons he was OK is b/c of his car (being larger, better quality, well made, etc). He also had side airbags which were HUGE in protecting him. Those airbags came standard on his new CR-V. He is VERY happy with his new car.

I also recently (back in July) bought a new car. I bought a 2006 clearance (one that was left over and really cheap-- meaning, it was never bought in 2006 and now that they have the 07 models out the 06ers that were never bought are on SALE). I bought a Toyota Rav-4... very similar to the CR-V, great gas mileage-- large (35% larger than the older model Rav-4's)... and I love it!!! I really like the fact that I did not have to spend a lot to get a reliable car that was safe and had a lot of extras (moonroof, rims, roof rack, etc).... Vinny's car is the same way (he even has heated seats)!

So, I hope this helps you a little bit... Here's a list of GREAT cars that are out on the market right now and you don't have to spend a ton of money to get a nice car that is safe (and reliable)...

Honda CR-V
Toyota Rav-4
Toyota Corolla
Toyota Camry
Honda Element
Nissan Altima
Nissan Pathfinder

Tip to save money: leasing is a good way to save on the monthly payments... also, you can trade in just a few years for a new one of whatever you would like!! or you have the option to buy at that time. Good luck, HTH!!!

Re: Everyone that drives ...HELP! *My car is TOTALLED!! I have to buy a new one ...

OMG! Are you okay? I'm assuming you were in an accident. Well, I hope you are okay. It depends if you want new or used. But my fiance is selling his car. It is in perfect condition. We had three cars but since we are getting married we can't afford the extrea payment. This is the info if you want it:

• 2002 Nissan Sentra
• Automatic Transmission
• Factory installed spoiler
• 54K miles
• Silver/Grey interior
• AM/FM/CD player
• Remote entry/remote trunk opener
• AC/Power windows/power locks
• Factory alarm
• 100K bumper to bumper zero deductible warranty

If not a used car, there are so many nice new ones. I love Jeeps! I was in a car accidnet last year in my Santa fe and I think it kept me alive!

I drive a Corolla. I bought it certified previously-owned when it was 3 years old (I've had it for 4 years now) and I've never had any problems with it. I have a 45+ minute commute each way, plus we use it to go everywhere on the weekends and I only need to fill up once a week. Toyotas are known for being really reliable, so I highly recommend them!

The most dependable cars are Toyota's. Buy a Corolla, reasonably priced and great on gas.

I have a Passatt....it's the turbo 2.5 and it's sooooo good on gas.

You might also want to try the new camry which comes in electric too. I've never been in an electric car, but if you're looking to save money and gas, but still get a really nice car, then you may want to look into that.

However, I love my passatt. You could also go for the Jetta which is a little cheaper and probably still good on gas if you get the turbo.

lol that reminded me of my car i had in HS-- it was a toyota corolla that my parents bought used for me... i kid you not this car was unstoppable!! i had it for a few years, it was given to me by them as a gift (my first car in lieu of a sweet 16 party)... it had, when i got it, about 130,000 miles on it lol!! and i drove that sucker like there was no tomorrow-- never really took care of it, just changed the oil. my cousin had it before me and never changed the spark plugs, fuses, ANYTHING on it ONCE! lol... finally, after i had it a few years it reached it's benchmark of 158,000!!! lmao!! it was amazing-- and get this: i sold it to a friend of mine as HIS very first car and i bought myself my first brand new car--- i got the corolla for free and sold it, with 158K miles on it, to my friend for 900 bucks! i love it! it was great-- what an awesome car, it was like a go-cart that never stopped. the little engine that could two months after having it my friend hit a parked car and totaled it, he was fine but the car was DONE-- what a shame, i bet that biatch would have made it to 200K+++!!!

So sorry about your car I HIGHLY recommend Honda Civics, I have an 06 and FH has an 02. Civics are great on Gas Mileeage.
I had a Hyundai Elantra previously and that was also a very good car.

So sorry about your car, but youa re okay and that is what counts!

I'm an american car girl..

I've had 2 Grand Ams and I love them. I curently have an 04 up in July and i'm thinking about another. They are a big car and I thought affordable.

I find that it is a lot cheaper to fix an american car than a foreign.

Toyota camry is probably the best-my mom just sold hers that she had for 8 years and her mechanic said she could get another 100,000 miles out of it-she already had 130,000 on it. Me, FH, FMIL all have toyaotas and haven't encountered one problem EVER.

I have a Toyota Matrix, I love it! The only draw back is pulling into a steep driveway, the front scrapes, so I have to back in.

The new Civic is super cute and really good on gas.

Check out Edmunds.com or epinions.com for car info, these websites are really helpful.
