Re: Everyone who WANTS or THINKS they have a 'TEACUP' dog

Actually my aunt and I have toy Shih Tzu's. Our veterinarian who is in the city and is very well known said that the tea cup is the smallest out of the Toy litter. So Tea cups are only from a toy litter. They sometimes tend to get sick but not all of them. My dog is a toy as well as my aunts. Teacups are even smaller they are the smallest further away from the Toy mothers woom thats why they may have health problems. A tea cup is smaller than a toy. A toy can go up to 7 pounds.

We are perfectly happy with our vet. I am not saying the place where you are getting your information from isn't true. I am just stating what my very experienced vet told me. I can post and have the right to post what my experiences have been or what I have been told my my vet. Besides do you not expect people to respond to the thread that you posted?? I was just stating what my vet. told me about the issue you posted. I am not an expert. Are you?? Technically it could be possible that there is no such thing as a teacup. I have also heard teacup referred to as the 'runt of the litter'. Dosn't make any difference anyway small is small 1 pound or 6.
But I will read the teacup myth.

Re: Everyone who WANTS or THINKS they have a 'TEACUP' dog

people can call it a teacup if theyd like... but it doesnt make it true.

(i cant see the problem with calling it a 'toy', which it is! or if its REALLY tiny for its breed 'small standard')

honestly.....who really cares to go on about the teacup/toy issue. People can call it what they want...and I probably still will call them a tea cup,,,not to make money, but because of their size.

Everyone has there own views.....including on dog preferences.

Amen Sister!

War is going on, Florida is being bombarded with hurricanes, people are sick, this is an election year, and so many other things but yet this debate is still going on

Have fun! Personally since none of them actually fit in the tea cup who cares what you call them! -- tea cup, toy or runt!! They are adorable and as long as they bring you joy and you treat them right and they are happy and healthy call them what you want!

Re: Everyone who WANTS or THINKS they have a 'TEACUP' dog

i am eventually going to be breeding my chihuahua, so for reputable breeders, it is an issue. for someone not looking for a dog or whatever youre right, who cares. obviously its a sensitive issue for some. it sucks trying to be helpful and getting 'attacked'. oh well!

and yes, they sure are cute no matter what.

Re: Everyone who WANTS or THINKS they have a 'TEACUP' dog

yorkies are SUPPOSED to be up to 6 lbs... so shes NOT a teacup... theres no such thing... the breeder obviously isnt reputable. sorry. i realized that after i got my chi, her breeder had 'teacup's for sale... i will NEVER go back to her again. if they DO try to breed extra tiny pups to call them 't-cups' its extremely unhealthy for the dogs. its just not good. i'm glad your dog is healthy, but 5 lbs is an average size, so i dont see why she wouldnt be, i doubt you'll have any majot problems with her in the future. paris hiltons chi on the other hand, i believe will have health issues later in life.. its too small.

like i said....
stop sweating my dog.
