I agree, at least 200-215 should be invited. Also when you do the math for the minimum make sure you include yourself and your groom. Also for some places they allow you to count 2 kids or 2 vendors as 1 person into that minimum, since they are half priced.

we are at the beginning of the school year, which really affected teacher friends from further away. at the beginning , we were soooo nervous we would go over our 200 TOPS budget (we wanted 175)

most places say you can overpay and make them a person to the minimum, i never heard of combining. that would be cool :)

I invited 240 and my final count was 196. I also had 5 no shows at the reception. Meaning they said yes they would come and didn't come the day of.

I would invite 200 to 205. I have to guarantee 150 and I'm inviting 180 ppl. I also don't want to go way over our guarantee. If we go under by a little I'm not worried about that either.

Yes you can do that too! If you go over your whole budget goes up. You have more favors to buy, escort cards plus more plates to pay for over the 175..

Can you do a B list? That's what we did. I wanted to stay at 150 but we had over 250 people to invite and I didn't expect 100 nos. So as people said no I'd invite others (mostly parents friends or FH work acquaintances that we wouldn't have necessarily missed if they couldn't be invited.) I had two RSVP dates so the people that were invited later wouldn't realize they were on a B list and since it was two different groups of people it wasn't like they knew invitations went out because someone else got an invitation. This worked perfectly, my count including us is 149 and I'm waiting to hear if one of FHs friends will be bringing a date which will make it exactly 150. I'm shocked at how this turned out, but pleasantly surprised.

I wouldn't over invite too much. My advice is to have B list and when you do your invitations, have cards made with 2 separate RSVP dates. So if you get more no's than expected you have people from your B list who you can invite. I did this. I made my 1st RSVP date 2 months before my wedding 8/6. The 2nd RSVP date for the B list is 8/30. I also did an early RSVP date because people don't respond when they are supposed to so you want to give yourself time to track people down.

We invited 185 and our final count was 125. Our minimum was 120. Usually it's 20% no response rate. I knew a lot of my OOT guests werent going to come so I factored them into my no's. Also, I was very surprised about some of the no's I received.

As the other poster said, some of your vendors count towards your count. Most of my vendors were in-house so they ate for free.

Yea, I think we are going to invite 170, but its mostly family. I just really don't want to go over the 150. I'd rather be at 150 than a lot over.
