Excited and nervous

Just over a month till we leave the UK to get married in New York. I am so terribly excited and so nervous. I have been married before but never had these pre wedding nerves.

Maybe its your wonderful city makingme feel like this.

I am also a bit nervous about having to go get our licence as soon as we get there. Can anyone tell me how easy the Manhattan office is to find ( I have the address) and how long it takes at the office?

What is the address for marriage license in Manhattan? I'll be glad to help with directions.

I live just outside of Manhattan, in Queens (one of the five boroughs of NYC). We waited on line for a long time (1/2 hour at least) to get our license. The process itself is quick-it's just that there were sooooo many people on line! I guess we shouldn't have gone on a Friday afternoon!

Just keep in mind that the marriage ceremony may not take place within 24 hours from the time the license is issues.

I am so nervous its not true and hoping it all goes smoothly. We have a lovely officiant arranged and getting married on 4 January at our hotel in Manhattan with pics in Central Park.

I dont know if its wedding nerves getting to me or whether its the thought of going to a strange city but I really am getting so scared ,,,

You are so right! Thats exactly the reason we decided to get married in NYC and have a reception for friends and family when we get home.

I think one of the reasons I feel a little down is that my pal was originally flying down from Canada to be my witness. Because her parents are ill, she cant make it now. My daughter is coming to NYC with myself and my FH but she is too young to be a witness. My friend from Canada is like a big sister to me and I was so looking forward to her being there and I feel a little lost ..

But you are right I am sure its only nerves getting to me :)

Good luck - everything will go smoothly. Sorry that your friend can't be there for you. Enjoy your stay here in NYC, and have lots of pictures taken, so that you will have them to show everyone at home.
