200 roses delivered this morning from Farm Direct, that I will be using for centerpeices at the E-Party, tomorrow night!
I am exhausted from de-leafing (I know, that's not a word) the roses. I prefer a 'clean' look w/ no leaves.
I learned 2 things about roses 1-if you don't have plant/rose food, you can add sugar to the water. and 2-there are chemicals on the leaves, so at the very least remove the leaves that will be in the water, if not the chemical gets in the water, travels up the stem and kills the rose quicker.
I have them out in the backyard, in buckets of sugar water. I will cut them to the desired length tomorrow afternoon!! I will take and post pics later. I have to jump in the shower and run about 12000 more errands (okay, not THAT many, but it feels like it)!!

Congrats! Thanks for the tips on the roses, that's good to know. Don't worry about the errands, everything will get done; but we hear ya. Have fun at your E-party and don't forget to post the pics!

How much sugar did you put in the water? I soooo wanna see pics. I love roses. My last name is rose in Spanish so Ihave a thing for them. Also it's my sorority's flower. Roses are great!! Enjoy your e-party and fill us in when you get back!!

Another good tip - put a penny in the water. My co-worker had roses that were dying and starting to turn downward. Someone suggested that she cut the stem under cold water and put them in a vase with fresh water and a penny. The next day they looked like brand new roses. It was amazing.

Back from errands, brought roses inside, and here are a few preliminary pictures. I will cut them (under water) tomorrow afternoon and transfer them to lower buckets for transportation to the hall (where the vases are).
