We went to Michael's to get our Ketubah and some other wedding-relating pieces framed -- over $700 and that was with a big sale and us not using fancy stuff! I had no idea framing this stuff cost so much. I told DH that this is coming right from the wedding present money.
And then we had to get our car inspected -- another $600 in work to make it passable!
I have decided that real life is way too expensive... I remember the days in college when $100 was a lot of money and I could make that last forever, when I got paid $8 an hour for my part-time job and I felt like I was earning a ton.
edited to make him my DH!

Re: Expensive weekend!
I hear you, I really do.
I shelled out $$$$ to have my car fixed this weekend at Nissan. That and FH and I have to buy a fridge, stove and dishwasher for the apartment.
And not to mention, still have a buttload of wedding stuff- like the small stuff that we're paying for- favors, cake topper, stuff like that. It never ends.

Re: Expensive weekend!
Holy Moly -- they found something else wrong with the car and now it is up to $800.
The ketubah cost about $250 to frame with the discount from Michael's. I know they can cost way more, because I was with my friend a few years back when he picked up his ketubah from the framing place and it cost him over $400. Our ketubah was 16x24 if that helps. We used a cherry wood for the frame (not their most expensive stuff though) and a matte background.

thanks!! one more ? if you don't mind. For the wedding did you have it framed onto a canvas. Mines right now in a tube rolled up but I want to have it displayed durring the ceremony. I wasn't sure what my options were to do.

Re: Expensive weekend!
Our rabbi told us what to do -- we unrolled the ketubah and put in on a table with books on the corners to get it to stay unrolled. Then we bought at Michaels a piece of foam board stuff as the back and a plastic cover for the front and put the ketubah in the middle and held it together with binder clips. I will try to find a pic from the wedding and post to a new thread later today so you have a better idea. This way you can take off the top plastic at the wedding to sign the ketubah, but then put the plastic back on so you can display the ketubah without having to worry about people spilling stuff on it, etc.
