Eyebrow Shaping

Eyebrow Shaping

Hi Ladies,

I need recommendations from you for somebody who does eyebrows, and somebody who does them well. I cannot and will not get them waxed because my skin gets way too irritated, so if any of you know a professional plucker (lol) I'd really appreciate it! Thanks so much!

Re: Eyebrow Shaping

I get my eyebrows threaded, there are plenty of places in the city. I live in Brooklyn so there is a place in walking distance so I just go there. It's in Fort Green, Brooklyn though.

Re: Eyebrow Shaping

I got to a really great threader at Nubest Salon in Manhasset. She shapes my eyebrows really well. If I get them waxed elsewhere they never look good and I always wind up going back to her. The threading is similar to plucking so you will not have the wax burn/sensitivity. Her name is Raheema, she is an assistant in the color room and the only one who threads at Nubest. It is $15.00 for brows but I think well worth it. Good luck

Re: Eyebrow Shaping

they take this thread and twist the thread and use it against the skin and the twisted thread pulls the hair out.. it works FAB-OO!!

Sept Bride

Sept, bride I go to SHAPES in Manhattan by Bryant Park, they only charge $5. I live in Bklyn so that place that you mentioned, that is in Fort Green would be way more convienent for me, can you share the address and the phone #?? THanks

Re: Eyebrow Shaping

Metphan: Threading involves pulling out a row of hairs from the follicle by twisting the hairs into a cotton thread. The practitioner holds one end of the thread in their teeth and the other end in one of their hands. With their free hand, they grab the middle of the thread to form a loop. The loop traps the unwanted row of hairs and the practitioner pulls the hairs from the skin

Re: Eyebrow Shaping

my friend who gets it done said it hurts a lot--i went w/ her and her eyes were tearing...i think she said it hurts more

Re: Eyebrow Shaping

Personally I don't think it hurts...I think it is quick and it last way longer...but I guess it depends on one's tolerance. Do not get your eyebrows done too close to your wedding day especially if you know you are sensitive.

Re: Eyebrow Shaping

I think threading hurts less than waxing but I'm sure it depends on who you ask.

Re: Eyebrow Shaping

The name of the place is Rani.. I'm not sure if it's Queens, Queens, or still part of Bellrose, I believe it is on either Jericho Turnpike or Jamaica Ave.

Re: Eyebrow Shaping

I get my eyebrows threaded at a place on Bell Blvd. in Bayside. It's a salon called Headlines and they charge $6.
