Face Breakout Help!! - Engagement session

Re: Face Breakout Help!! - Engagement session

i would definitely NOT go out and buy Proactive. If you've never used something like it and if you have sensitive skin, it's most likely going to make it worse. A ton of girls can't even use it b/c it's too strong.

As for a real quick fix, Visene takes the red out of a zit (maybe for an hour or so though) and toothpaste will shrink them.

For long term, look into Aveno (drugstore) and Kiehl's (department). Hypoallergenic, etc, etc, etc

DO NOT buy the 'maxiumum strength' stuff - that's 10% concentration, 'the strongest you can buy without a prescription,' blah blah. 2.5% works exactly as well - it's all your skin needs to kill the bacteria that cause pimples. 10% yes has more of the stuff, but your skin doesn't need it (no matter how broken out you are) and it is so harsh, it actually makes your pimples appear redder.

Wow!! I didn't know that...the maximum strength stuff seems to be the only thing that works for me though Maybe my skin is just that bad? Or is there something else you think I can try?? I don't want to damage my skin!

There is no difference in the effectiveness between the 2.5%, 5%, and 10%. They all work exactly the same in terms of getting rid of acne, but the 5% and 10% dry your face a lot more and if you're sensitive, it makes your skin even more irritated and look worse. But if you're not sensitive and you like the way it works for you, there's no reason not to keep doing what you're doing.

I have extrememly sensitive skin. When I break out, I use cetaphil without water and I try not to get my face wet. I will also use a DROP of tea tree oil as well. you can get that at Target.

Just my $0.02 - everyone's skin and complexion are different. I have extremely sensitive skin - Salicylic acid would wreak havoc on my face and everything else just didn't work. The Pro Activ was the only thing that worked for me. It got to the point that I just had to use the face wash and nothing else.

I do agree on the Visine - if you still have some stubborn ones day of, it will help get the red down.

I tan too! I know its so bad for you but if i start breaking out really bad one quick tanning sessiona nd the next day its all cleared up.....

I really should find a better method, but im so sick of spending all that damn money on products that just end up in a drawer in the bathroom collecting dust.
