So I had mentioned to FH and my sister that I wanted to get a fake ring set for the honeymoon and they both looked at me like I was nuts. I told FH that if we're going to be doing water sports and things like that on the honeymoon I don't want to leave my real rings on or in the room while we're out and about - his response 'that's what a safe is for' but I still don't want to take any chances. Am I nuts? Anyone else doing this?

I plan on doing it. When we got engaged we were on a cruise and I wanted to buy one the next day bc I hated not wearing it while we were on shore doing things. I couldn't find one as pretty as my real ring so I never got one, but I definitely want one for the HM

I already have a fake E-Ring that I wear to the beach, on the boat and took with me on vacation. Got it at Lord & Taylor for like $25 and I am sooo happy that I did! I am too paranoid about loosing the real one!

I guess it depends how much your ring is worth. I have heard of people doing this and also getting insurance on their ring. I´m not a big jewelry person so I´m sure my ring will be very inexpensive!! I´ll prob just take it off and leave it in the safe while on the honeymoon.

Nope... I think that for the honeymoon, I am only going to take my wedding band and leave the rock at home... Don't want to take the chance
ETA: now that i think about it- it may be a good idea .. the wheels are turning...

i have heard of this from friends in the past. i don't think its worth it. i have been waiting my whole life to wear an e-ring & wedding band & will never let them out of my site.
also because when i was a kid, we where on a family vacation & when we got home our house was robbed. so ever since then i carry all my jewelery with me when i leave the house for any extended period of time. i rather have my stuff with me. besides hotel rooms all have safes in them if necessary.
edit: i will be getting my e-ring insured

I am so totally doing this! I do not trust the safes because I have heard stories about things being stolen from safes in high end resorts (by employees), so I am not taking any chances.
I got engage in Antigua, so I had to wear my ering the whole vacation, everytime I went in the water I was freaking out that my ring would fall off.
Why stress....leave the real ones home and relax!!

That's true, I don't wear my ring to the beach now either but I'm just thinking like if we're out scuba diving or something I would be so paranoid to leave it in the room. I think I would just feel better if I left it at home and wore one that I didn't care about.

joannaaaa, ive had this same convo with my FH. he doesnt get it. maybe he just doesnt want to shop for ANOTHER ring? lol
i want one...but ever since ive been looking at wedding bands and seeing how well they complement the ring, i dont know if i want to take it off.
