Re: Fake nails to real nails

That is one reason why I don't have wraps. They look nice, but make you nail weak and paper thin. I did wear them for my wedding though. Try using a nail hardener such as Mystic, or Sally Hansen's nail hardener. Also multi viatmins help them grow as well.

Re: Fake nails to real nails

I took off my wraps about a year and half ago, and I'm so happy I did. I used nailtique for a while, and got regular manicures weekly. It is so much quicker and cheaper to get a manicure on your real nails, and if you use nailtique as the base coat, your nails will get strong.

Re: Fake nails to real nails

yes, i did this back in March....if you go to CVS or Duane Reade, they sell this kit especially for this. It comes with 3 small bottles, like 1 to strengthen, 1 to protect etc..it really helped my nails to transition but it was a long process to get them back to naturally strong! I had my acrylic nails on for 3 years and took them off when we saving every penny for a house.

Re: Fake nails to real nails

I use Nailtiques #2... and another tip I found out... use OPI nailpolish with your natural nails! When I got my wraps off in May, my nails were a disaster!
I found out that Essie nailpolish is formulated for fake nails, and the OPI is for natural! Ever since I switched, the OPI has helped to make my nails stronger. They are just about back to normal.

Re: Fake nails to real nails

I think this might help-

Nailtiques is the nail protein/ hardner that you put as a base & top coat. It's clear.

OPI is a nailpolish brand. It is the colors. Usually most salons carry Essie polish which are the small square bottles with the white top that come in every color imaginable.
OPI comes in a round bottle it's taller than the Essie bottles and have a black top.

Using Nailtique as the base and top coat and an OPI nailpolish worked for me.

ETA- here is a pic of some OPI polish. I'm sure you've seen it before

Re: Fake nails to real nails

Yes. OPI is just a regular brand nailpolish.
I just find it to be better than Essie when you have natural nails.

Re: Fake nails to real nails

OPI is a brand of nailpolish, but their Nail Envy is a strengthener/hardener.
