Fake rings for honeymoon?

Fake rings for honeymoon?

Is anyone doing this? I've read it a couple of times on this site that girls will buy fake rings to wear on their honeymoons instead of wearing their real ones and risking something happening to it. I do not like the ideal, but at the same time I don't want to worry about it either since I plan on being on the beach and in the water a lot.

Ladies tell me what you think.

I was just talking to FH about doing this. I really dont want to worry about my rings while i am in the pool or touring in 3rd world countries. I am upset about not wear my band as soon as i have it , but i know how ditzy i am.

If you insure your ring/band before you go away then you should be fine.

Personally, I'm all for getting a fake set. I purchased mine from overstock.com for $22 and it came within 3 days. Looks almost like my e-ring, but its CZ. So I can go the beach, go in the water and not have to worry about it getting scratched up or the on the offchance I lose my diamond.

i'm not doign this. some of the costume jewelry can be pricey and i'm not spending money when i already have a beautiful ring on my finger.
if yoru worried about it, get the ring insured, if its not already and then you can be more at ease. you can always leave your jewelry at the hotel/cruise ship safe it that makes you more comfortable, but odds are, nothing is going to happen. i mean what could you really be doing that is so unsafe that you will lose them

I liked the idea but FH was totally against it lol. He didn't want people to think he'd get me a fake ring

I might just wear a simple silver band or something. Or get the cz anyway lol

i would be devastated if i lost mine so i'm planning on buying a CZ one. I've seen them and they look pretty good. Plus i dont want to wear it to the pool, beach, etc. I just don't want to have to worry about it, even if it's insured. The thought of replacing my original ring is not happening

i thought the idea was a great one.. but the more i thought about it... the more i was against it.

my ring is insured for the full amount, so worst case scenario, i get it replaced... but i'm always super careful with my jewelry when on vacation.

just remember girls.. when you go into the pool/ocean.. the temperature drops, which may make your fingers shrink slightly, so i tend to always wear my rings on my necklace till i'm in a safe place.

I know how I am and I am definitely getting a fake set. I dont want to chance it honestly. and that will be the vacation rings.
even though it is insured, I do not want to have to replace the ring that he gave me, since he picked out the stones and setting himeself. It has sentimental value to me and I dont want to chance losing it.

my mom lost her engagement ring that my dad gave her in 1966 by wearing it on her necklace at the beach. :( 40 years and she did that once and its gone now.

omg.. that's horrible.... i guess... even the necklace isn't a safe decision... might as well just lock it in the hotel safe...

I am just going to wear my plain band ( I plan on getting two bands)- we are going on safari and then to lay on the beach for a week, so I don't really think there will ever really even be a time I'll want to wear my e-ring.

I say get a fake. Even if it is insured, that does not mean you wanna pay a deductible and go through all that hassle. hth

As much as it kills me to not wear the real thing - i am definitely getting a fake one... Even if it's insured I dont care, I'm not going to risk losing it and that will be one less thing I have to worry about.

ill wear my real ring- but leave it in the safe if I do swimming or tourist type stuff- at the hotel I'll feel safe to wear it

I completely agree!! Thats my strategy ... I know I could get a replacement since its insured but its not the same... I love the meaning of my ring too much! :p
