Whether or not we like the idea of giving/getting jewelry for a BM gift, I think we can all agree that your MOH was out of line. Look, it's part of being a bridesmaid. It's something you accept when you accept the duty/honor. You may or may not like the dress, you may or may not like the gift, but it's part and parcel of the day.

And NO MATTER WHAT the gift, a well-mannered person always accepts graciously, and with a smile.

She can go b!tch about it on LIWeddings later.

uh...what the #$%^

You are supposed to feel guilty about buying jewlery? Hmm, definately not bridezilla. BTW, my BM still wear their jewlery on occassion......I got them necklaces that looked kinda like the one that was broken off Carrie's neck on the last SATC......They loved them.

Buy her a sock and tell her to suck on it. Its your wedding.

A gift is a gift and she should get over herself and be grateful she is getting anything at all. Good Luck!

I think its a great idea and I also think it's very common... However, if you don't want them to feel obligated to wear it (let them wear what you want, as your MOH said), then maybe you could mention it when you give it to them. If you do want them to wear it, I'm sure they will appreciate the gesture and be happy they didn't have to pay for it!

On the other hand, I am VERY picky with jewelry and personally wouldn't appreciate it as a gift.... That's me, and I know I'm in a vast minority! I am not sure yet what I am doing for my bridal party, but I personally won't be giving jewely...

Good luck! You're not a bridezilla- don't worry!!

What's the difference that the jewelry matches the dress? What's the difference that it's her wedding day?

If I buy a pair of earrings for someone as their Birthday gift, it's still coming from ME, and it's still something that I think would be worn...I'M still the one who picked it out...

Why are earrings less of a gift when given as a BM gift as apposed to given as a BDay gift

As someone who is very particular about jewelry, I do not particularily appreciate jewelry gifts that match a dress. I see it much like your MOH sees it, as more a gift for the bride to get her bms to match rather than a gift that is a true thank you for the money, time, effort of being in the party.

That said, I think its very rude to make any comments to the bride about it. Its a gift and even if you don't like it, you don't have any say about it.

So while I agree with her, I think she was very rude for making any mention of it.

I agree totally!
