Family Functions w/o FH?

Family Functions w/o FH?

Just out of curiousity. . .

If FH can't make a family function on his side of the family, do you go without him? ie, FH's Uncle's 60th Bday is this weekend and he can't go bc of work. I'm going without him because I like hanging out with his family.

If it was the other way around, I guess it would depend on the situation if FH would go without me.

Just wondering about you ladies

i say go!!!!

my FH has gone to visit my parents with me and stayed home with my mom while i went out drinking with my friends from high school, he was tired and wanted to stay in and i wasnt and miss my fiends.

FFIL stops by the house in the morning sometimes because he knows i go in late everyday, just stops by to say hi

i think it a very good thing to be able to independently chat/visit/ or whatever with his family and vice versa

i think it would depend on what its for, bc there is a ton of times dh goes to my uncle just to hang out, so i guess it depneds on the occasion

and for me i probably wouldnt go his family is much different then mine and always talking about each other and i perfer not to be apart of it, we rarely go to his family funstions bc he himself dont like going to them either

Re: Family Functions w/o FH?

FH would never go to one of my family functions without me. He is not good at making conversation and is shy that way. I have only gone to one family function without him - last 4th of july, his parents had a little group of people over their house, and FH was sick. I went because it was just FILs, his grandparents and his parents' best friends whom I know pretty well. Anything else, I might go depending on who else was going. I don't know his dad's side of the family well, so I probably wouldn't go to something for them without him.

If you get along with his family well and wouldn't feel out of place, definitely go!!

Always. DH works all summer so any event in the summer ( weddings, birthdays, parties ) I go to alone. I have been part of his family for ten years so I am very comfortable with them.

He has never been to a function for my family without me but in fairness to him I have a very flexible schedule so I really don't miss anything.

Oh I am def going, I was just wondering what most people do.

I feel very comfortable around his family, I like them a lot

I would but have never been in that situation before -- but I do go out to eat and shop with his mom and/or sister without him.

I travel a lot so he is always doing things with my family (cousins and all) without me. He has a very close relationship to my entire family.

I wouldn't, but only because I have my own issues with FH's family. You should definitely go

yeah i would and i have. We had an e-party to go to but he was working that weekend so i went without him. I think ive done it other times too.

Also the weekend i was in vegas was my easter, i am christian orthodox and my easter was last weekend in april. FH didnt even have to but he decided on his own to go over my house and have easter dinner with my family even though i was away

Depending on the situation. For most cases I probably wouldn't go though.
