my father did not attend my wedding. we had a huge fight last July, and never reconciled. He declined my invite, as did everyone on his side of the family...
Some of them sent gifts, others did not. I sent a web link to my grandmother so that she could see my wedding photos. I know that she accessed them, but she never acknowledged doing so. She had called a few weeks before the wedding in hopes that she could get me to call my father. I didn't.
Anyway, I just found that my cousin has a baby registry with Babies R Us. She is one of the few who sent me a wedding gift.
her baby is due in 3 months. Her shower must be soon because a whole bunch of stuff has already been purchased. Of course, I haven't received an invitation.
So, I purchased a small gift off of the registry and had it shipped to her home.
Was it wrong that I did this? My logic was: surely she's not the one hosting her own shower, so it probably wasn't her who excluded me...

Re: family issue...as a result of the wedding...
I think it was fine...you were doing what cousins do and since she sent you a gift, I'm thinking she didnt have any hard feelings, but rather didnt want to get involved or whatever reason it was..it's best to not exclude EVERYONE from your life when these things happen, and I would have gottenher a gift as well...

You definitely did the right thing by yourself, and by your cousin. Whatever transpired between you and your dada shuld not interfere with the way your whole family acts, and it's a shame, and quite frankly bullsh!t that they didn't attend your wedding.

I think regardless of how anyone on that side of the family feels about you...you did what you thought was right, and therefore, it WAS right. Especially because she sent you a wedding gift. I'm sure she doesn't know you were not invited.

I think you did the right thing. The issue is between you and your dad. Its wrong of the rest of them to get involved.
You were the bigger person and I hope his side of the family can see that.

Woah, but you sent it to her house? Don't you think that's going to give her shower away? I like the idea of a gift but you may have just conjured up more bad feelings from that side of the family.

It is never the wrong thing to be the bigger person. I think you were right on target.

Most of the time the new mommies have a general idea of when the shower will be. Also, the PEEK ALOT!!! So she probably knows that a ton of stuff is missing.

What you did was fine? I'm pretty sure your cousin would have invited you if it was up to her. Don't let it get to you. Stay strong!!!
