Father/daughter dance

I've been searching for a very special song to dance with my step dad to. My step dad is a very special man who really is my true father. I really want to let him know how much I love him and appreciate everything he has done for me. Any Suggestions?
Thanks so much!!

Re: Father/daughter dance

You can use Wind Beneath My Wings, Unforgettable (that is what I'm using), I'm Everything I am b/c You Loved Me, Butterfly Kisses.

I'll try to think of more for you.

Re: Father/daughter dance

We're gonna use 'My Girl', I love 'Butterfly Kisses' but that song gets me too emotional. I also decided I wanted something a little more upbeat because my dad loves to dance.

Re: Father/daughter dance

This is the song I used. I'm not a huge Celine Dion fan, but the lyrics were too perfect....

Because you loved me

For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth that you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
I'll be forever thankful baby
You're the one who held me up
Never let me fall
You're the one who saw me through, through it all

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

You gave me wings and made me fly
You touched my hand I could touch the sky
I lost my faith, you gave it back to me
You said no star was out of reach
You stood by me and I stood tall
I had your love I had it all
I'm grateful for each day you gave me
Maybe I don't know that much
But I know this much is true
I was blessed because I was loved by you

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me strength 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

You were always there for me
The tender wind that carried me
A light in the dark shining your love into my life
You've been my inspiration
Through the lies you were the truth
My world is a better place because of you

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

Re: Father/daughter dance

I understand your needs exactly...I too, shared a special dance with my step Dad who is a *very* special person in my life. I wanted the song to be appropriate and convey emotion without being too sappy. He's been in my life just since my early-mid 20's, so nothing too little girlish, or specifically about Daddy.

I chose 'I Hope You Dance' by Leeann Womack. I believe the lyrics convey a very uplifting sentiment, and I like the meaning behind them.

I Hope You Dance (Lee Ann Womack featuring Sons Of The Desert)

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give fate a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their years and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their years and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)

(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their years and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

We're using 'In My Life' by the Beatles. It's a nice slow song, but it's not one of those songs you hear for every father/daughter dance.

Re: Father/daughter dance

We are using Through the Years - Kenny Rogers, here are the lyrics:

I can't remember when you weren't there
When I didn't care for anyone but you
I swear we've been through everything there is
Can't imagine anything we've missed
Can't imagine anything the two of us can't do

Through the year, you've never let me down
You turned my life around, the sweetest days I've found I've found with you ... Through the years
I've never been afraid, I've loved the life we've made And I'm so glad I've stayed, right here with you Through the years

I can't remember what I used to do
Who I trusted whom, I listened to before
I swear you've taught me everything I know
Can't imagine needing someone so
But through the years it seems to me
I need you more and more

Through the years, through all the good and bad
I knew how much we had, I've always been so glad
To be with you ... Through the years
It's better everyday, you've kissed my tears away
As long as it's okay, I'll stay with you
Through the years

Through the years, when everything went wrong
Together we were strong, I know that I belonged
Right here with you ... Through the years
I never had a doubt, we'd always work things out
I've learned what love's about, by loving you
Through the years

Through the years, you've never let me down
You've turned my life around, the sweetest days I've found I've found with you ... Through the years
It's better everyday, you've kissed my tears away
As long as it's okay, I'll stay with you
Through the years!

Re: Father/daughter dance

I know of a song called Always Daddy

1st Verse
Without your love and sacrifice
I wonder where I would be
You gave your thoughts and good advice
You cared for me so tenderly
I want you to know
That you'll always be
For eternity
My Daddy

(chorus)
You were there for my first steps
and there for my first words
As you dance this first dance with me
Remember you'll always be Dad.

2nd Verse
You stood today, gave me away
To be a husbands wife
But I will not forget you Dad
Although I start a new life
In my heart gladly
You will always be
Yes, you'll always be
My Daddy.

Also a song called My FDather/My daughter.

Good luck
