Father Daughter Dance question - what would u do.

Father Daughter Dance question - what would u do.

Point Blank - my father and I - although we live together - have no relationship. Its sad - it really is.

I dont want to dance with him. It would just be akward. We do not get along. I just cant do this.

Am I wrong? Are people going to talk if theres no dance?

does your FH wanna dance with his mom?? if not what if you do an anniversary dance or something?

Is your FH going to have a mother/son dance? If so, it will be noticeable that you didn't dance with your father and people will talk...I have to be honest...now it's up to you to decide which one you'd rather deal with, awkwardly dancing with your father or putting up with people talking about it..

We're not dancing with them. We're doing bo-k presentations to both of our mothers....

FH's mom can't really move too well - back injury. And my dad passed away. So we're just going to get on the mic, make a quick speech, and present them with bouquets.

Me too, and it was never really noticeable to me that they didn't...

the married couples come on the dance floor and the dj or band asks anyone who has been married less than 5 years to sit then 10 then 20 and so on until there is 1 couple standing lol

I actually get along with my dad but I still don't want to do a father daughter dance but I think he really wants to do it and other people I spoke to said I HAD to do it (even though I know this isn't true). I'm thinking of doing a swing dance with him so it's not some sappy slow father daughter dance. I'm just hoping he maintains a non alcoholic status until the father daughter dance

maybe if she knows the situation she will understand?? instead of having dance where they are called out to the floor maybe he can just grab her to dance during the night?

For many years I felt the same way, only my parents were divorced....then my dad passed away. My outlook is quite different now. Everyone has to make their own decision though. You will undoubtedly figure out what is best for you.

my dad and I get along but we are not close at all and frankly he doesn't know a whole lot about me. I don't want a sappy song but I do want to have the dance -- just for the memory.

FH isn't dancing with his mother and I'm not dancing with my father. I think the last wedding we were at the bride and groom didn't dance with their parents but I can't remember so, I don't think you have to... and I really don't think anyone will notice

I have the same situation..my parents are together but i cant stand my father ..it hurts going through this ...my mom has begged me to dance with him..but i dont even want him to walk wit meand my mom down the aisle ..

i think i am gonna just do it and suck it up to not upset my mom...but i am gonna have a dance with my mom also

im sorry to say this , but im glad im not the only one thinking about not having my dad as part of my wedding ...i cry every night thinking about it

i went through a similar dilemma...i went back and forth w it, b/c i knew my family would be upset that i didn't dance w him.

so my mom convinced me about something...i might look back years down the road when he's not around anymore and feel bad that i didn't dance w him on my wedding day. maybe you might feel the same way? even if you don't have a relationship w him, you don't want to regret it later in life.

just putting that out there.

the last wedding I went to, the bride and her father slow danced to butterfly kisses and they were cheek to cheek the entire time. Afterward my cousin, the MOH, told me that the bride (who still lived at home) slept between her parents the night before as a kind of goodbye. The bride also had a 'virginity' ring thing where she promised to save herself and she gave it to her dad during the wedding ceremony.
CREEPY

I also went to a wedding where the dances were skipped and I hate to say it but people did notice. Mostly because it's what expected --two women at my table were asking if they were going to do it after the cake.
