I have no idea what to select for this... I've always been drawn to that song 'Butterfly Kisses' but is that over done and/or cheesy? I mean, it's all about a father and his daughter growing up.
I'm the oldest of 2 girls and the last to get married, thought that may make it more appropriate too? My dad and I for the most part have had a good relationship, there was a time it wasn't so good, but those days are long past so I don't really carry any hard feelings or anything, but I don't deny they happened either. It was all part of growing up and our relationship. He's been incredibly supportive of FH and I, he has run over at the drop of the hat when we've had any issues with our house and he was an integral part in us choosing our house too.
I was also thinking of some song from Fiddler on the Roof that my mom danced with her dad to at their wedding (keep it in the family kind of thing).

Re: Father/daughter dance
I had never heard of that heartland song, but I went to i-tunes and just played a little of it... OMG... if you cry when you hear a song, does that mean that you should use it? I swear I started to cry from the 30 second blurb on i-tunes.
I'm not much into country music, but that is a very appropriate song...

Re: Father/daughter dance
Are you supposed to clear it with your dad before you select a song... I downloaded that entire song and I'm crying my eyes out... WOW! It's just such a nice song...I think I should warn my dad though...
Is it bad to cry at your entire wedding? So much emotion!!! I cry at almost everything... who knew I was such a mush?

Re: Father/daughter dance
Does anyone have any suggestions for songs that are not 'daddy's girl' type songs. I dont have that kind of my relationship with my dad and I am having the hardest time finding a song that is not A. romantic, or B. a daddys girl song. BTW - nothing wrong with being a daddy's girl. Wish I were one

At first I was going to use 'you raise me up' by Josh Groban... it's just a beautiful song... so maybe listen to that one??? Let me know what you think!

I also would loved to hear any suggestions for a non-romantic, non-'daddy's little girl' song to dance with my Dad . I am having a hard time finding something. I love that song 'i loved her first,' but it too mushy for the relationship I have with my Dad. Thanks for any help girls!

I can't use any sweet, romaticy songs either...my dad is a big, stubborn guy who has given me support and advice throught my life, but we aren't 'close'. I am considering The Gambler by Kenny Rogers or I Walk the Line by Johnny Cash. What do you think of those?

I think anything that reminds you of your father, be it a song he likes, or used to play over and over when you were a kid would be great.
My dad and I would watch 'The Muppet Show' together every Sunday night while I was growing up, so I am using 'The Rainbow Connection' as the Father/Daughter song.
Good Luck!

The song def reminds me of him friom when I was a kid and I like the idea of the singer giving advice in the song...its a metaphoric, 'These are some of the the things you need to know about the world'

Re: Father/daughter dance
Im using My Little Girl by Tim McGraw. I heard it, cried and everyone I have played if for has cried so, maybe listen and see if you like it too. I found this link that has the lyrics and plays the song in the background if you want to listen to it. It's really nice.

That is so sweet and original! My dad and I haven't selected a song yet.
