favors for engagment party?

We are having our party in June. Nothing too formal, just friends and family in the back yard. Do I need to give out favors for this? Thanks...

I think it can get out of hand with favors -- so I don't think you need to give out anything at an engagement party. Just enjoy the party! :-)

I agree with Stef28, it is not necessary!

agree with chocolate

i would do something not too fancy like chocolates. you don't want to feel like you have to out-do your engagement favor when it comes to your wedding favors, and I don't think people expect too much (even not having them at all) from engagement favors!

I did choclate lollipops with bookmarks

I got very inexpensive bookmarks from www.favorlady.com since most of our family and friends read a lot. Then we tied them to the bride/groom white choclate lollipops. The whole thing cost me less than $50 for 60 pieces. Although they are not necessary I just wanted a simple thank you to give out.

I didn't either

to be honest, my mother wanted to make these horrific silk flower pins (my mother is a member of the homemakers society) and to talk her out of it, I said no favors! I think the simple chocolate or the bookmark is great though.
