Anyone not doing favors? I'm tossing around the idea of making a donation to the American Cancer Society but FH says ppl will want to receive a favor. Just wanted to know if donations are a common thing to do.

i feel donation favors are just perfect. We didn't do it because our wedding had a specific theme both of us wanted to carry through. I was thinking we could of donated to a irish cause but i felt if i would do a donation it would be for animals or natural preservation. Most of the favors you get at a wedding are crap anyway and through it out, should do donations more often.
YES, there are a lot of crap favors out there BUT as I stated several times, mine will not be crap, and they are rather expensive
sorry, i think nicole was extremely harsh in her phrasing of opinion but my favors are goody bags with multiple items, none of which are useless or will be left at the table

Re: Favors vs. donations
the difference is that people that are not giving donations dont say that the donations are useless or cheap however, people that are giving donations always seem to say this about favors

Re: Favors vs. donations
Gotta say donations are very popular but I havent been to one wedding where they have done this... and I dont think it would rub me the right way.
A Wedding reception is held to celebrate the marriage of the young couple and the gifts to the couple should help start off their life together as husband and wife...what they do with the money is noone's business and it should stay that way. JMO

Re: Favors vs. donations
we are making a donation to the ms society- my godmother has it and all of our friends and family know that fh and i work with the ms society all year long-- but we are also giving our guests a box of either chocolates or cookies- just a small thank you. Another reason that we are doing the donation is to raise awareness of MS. but again, jmo
