So we are getting married in December and want to do ornaments as favors. We were going to do personalized ornaments with our name and date but that ends up being almost $5 an ornament which is a lot for 230 people. FH pointed out that who would actually put up an ornament with our names on it besides our family...so we ended up finding these at Costco. They are our colors and as of right now, they have enough. It ends up being $20 a box and the total is half the amount we would spend on personalized. FMIL found a website where we could get personalized boxes for cheap to put the ornament in. Anyway, what do you think of these ornaments? I think they are very pretty and am happy with the price, but do you think it looks like they were purchased at Costco? The only thing is we have to decide now before they run out.....

Those are very nice. Ornaments are a great idea. Only way it wouldn't be is if you had a lot of guests who don't celebrate Christmas.
I agree that I wouldn't put an ornament on a tree with someone else's name on it, unless the ornament was REALLY nice.

Ornaments sound great...but I agree that it would be a rough favor for people who don't celebrate Christmas....Great idea though

We are Catholic and a good amount of the 230 people we are inviting are family...big Italian families lol...to my knowledge we are inviting one person who does not celebrate Christmas but her boyfriend does...
I think the ornaments are really cute! But I definitely agree w/ your FH about leaving the names off.. I wouldn't hang an ornament with someone else's names and wedding date.

X-mas is my favorite holiday, at 1st I though NO NO seems chessy but presentation is everything so putting them in a nice box would wipe off the Cosco look

Oooh what about just putting 2012 on an ornament that you decide on... maybe even those pretty snowflake ones. Since your wedding is december and everyone always has ornaments with the year on it, that could work out great!

We thought about that, but we are doing jingle bells outside the church instead of bubbles, and when FMIL and I were at the craft store one day we found bells that she was able to make into place card holders, and we are putting this poem on the back of the place card:
'May laughter and joy fill this room, as we toast the Bride and Groom. Take this tiny Wedding Bell, a sign of love to wish them well, ring it loud so all may hear when the Bride and Groom are near.'
...too cheesy?

I like the ornament idea! what about getting personalized ribbon or something to tie on the top where the hook goes? it's probably pretty cheap and then it's kinda personalized but not as in your face

I think it would be really cute to tie a personalized ribbon on the ornament and leave them at the place settings. Just remember that these sparkly ornaments get sparkles EVERYWHERE, so keep them away from the plates!

i agree!
love the ornament idea but i would leave the name and date off.
and if you keep it just more decorative then you dont have to worry about the people who dont celebrate christmas. cause then it could just be decorative. and sorry if this sounds horrible and selfish but i wouldnt even bother to worry about that factor, its your wedding and this is a way to personalize it for you two.

I think these are great and to personalize it you can get the ribbon with your names and data on it to tie around the circle up top.. this way people can decide to take off or leave on when they hang it on the tree as a momento...
I wouldn't be concerned with people who don't celelbrate Christmas if the majority of people are Catholic... Most of my non-Christian friends have trees too!
