Sooo... I went to Bridal Reflections yesterday.. I had a really great experience there.
I found a dress that I love. Like LOVE LOVE LOVE
BUT- the bottom is feathers!!! I can't believe i like it because it is so out of control!!! But I DO!! I REALLY DO!
Now here is the question: I think this trend will fall fast and HARD. The woman yesterday said that every trend dies and you will look back and hate your dress no matter what LOL
But do i want to look back and say OMG i look like a peacock? What if in one year its out of style and then im screwed? It is not a dress that most people will like.. I feel like only certain types of people like the style.
I know everyone says to dress for yourself but REALLY? dont you want everyone to say what a gorgeous dress you wore? What good is it if im the only one who thinks it looks good? LOL

Re: feather dress
tough call on that. I would say that if you love it now you will love it forever. There is a 2010 bride whose dress was feathers on the bottom and it was gorgeous. Maybe check out her pics and see what you think. Maybe the feathers aren't as obvious in the pics as they are in person, so that over the years it won't even matter. Make sense?

Re: feather dress
I think a dress should reflect the bride. I personally think the feather dress is hot, fun, and sexy. if that's the vibe you want, go for it. Other's will go for soft and romantic. It's all a matter of taste and you can't predict what will stay in fashion and what won't so if it makes you feel beautiful, don't hold back.
I personally thought leggings would only stay for one season but they are still holding strong so who knows, you may be the front runner on a classic.
side note: grkbarbie on 2010 boards wore a FABULOUS feather dress for her wedding and I don't think it was too much at all

LOL , im not a trendy type person, i like simple classic stuff.
my dress is empire waist, not big frills.
if you can look back and love your dress because of the way it made you feel, then go for it
if not... well you dont wanna end up like this bride

Re: feather dress
well if you want to think of it this way: Every trend may die but eventually it comes back. Every decade of fashion has returned in some form. I say if you truly love the dress and see yourself getting married in it, than you should go for it. Don't concern yourself with what you will think later on down the line. Who cares at that point - you'll be in wedded bliss!

Re: feather dress
Personally, I like the feathers. I think they are unique and pretty. The bottom of my wedding dress is different too and I love it! I think it's fun to look back at the different styles that were in at the time. Go for it!!!

Re: feather dress
I am going to speak from experience here – I fell in love with a dress a while ago. Tried it on three times on three separate occasions with different people present. My mother wasn’t a fan and I am sure a lot of other people wouldn’t have liked it either. My mom convinced me to go to a totally different store and try on a few more dresses to make sure it was THE ONE. I went to the place… tried on the original dress I was going to order (they had a sample there too) and ABSOUTELY HATED it. I am not sure why, if it was because other peoples opinions were engraved in my mind….but whatever the reason, I hated the dress… I went back to square one and found a new dress… But anyway – my advice to you is… wait a little bit – a few weeks… go back and try it on again.. with a different consultant or a different place even. If you still like it – go for it. I was told and I will pass this on to you…. YOU have to like your dress… no one else does… it’s YOUR day… I do see your point though about hating it next year. Or in 20 years… that’s the same position I was in with the original dress (that I didn’t order) I hope that all made sense!

Re: feather dress
heyy!!
Finding a dress was probably the most stressful part of wedding planning. I was ready to purchase 2 other dresses before I found 'my pet ostrich'.
I was in Bridal Reflections and I spotted the dress..and thought it was the ugliest dress I have ever seen. I decided to try it on, AS A JOKE. I put it on and walked out of the fitting room. As soon as I walked out a girl from HS was walking into her fitting room , looked at me and said 'omg, u better not get that dress, its gross'
welll......... i FELL IN LOVE. I didnt want to take it off. I stood in the store twirling around everytime the sales lady walked away.
I still hesitated because I knew it was veryyy different. I made another appt so my mom could see it. she didnt liek it at all. As soon as they unzipped the bag, 'oh no, are u serious?' she loved the top (surprised, since it was see thru ) but HATED the feathers. but i LOVE IT. and once i put it on, she kinda sorta liked it, too.
That dress was madee for me lol it was superrrr light, fluffy and had enough feathers where it wasnt overly obnoxious. Every single person that passed by me at my RH from other affairs stopped me and complimented me. The MC at my wedding told me my dress was the hottest dress hes seen in 20 yrs. HOLLA!!
try the dress on and see if you like it.. but i encourage you to GO ALONE!
DO NOT BRING PEOPLE WITH YOU TO LOOK AT DRESSES!!!!!!!!!!!!! other peoples opinions = problems.

Re: feather dress
If thats your style and personality, I say go for it!!! I feel like no matter what, 20 years from now there is going to be something in ALL of our weddings that we are going to be like OMG did I really do that? But will you regret more looking back at the dress and lauging at stilly fashion trends, or regret not getting it and settle for something you don't love? That's my two cents
