I know it sounds crazy, but I just want to make sure since my wedding is in 3 weeks and I have to give my final count next week. We are supposed to feed the band, Photographers, assistants and videographer?? It is so many people- not that I want to sound cheap or anything, Just want to do the right thing. we have an 8 piece band, 2 photographers, 1 lighting assistant and a videographer. that is 12 extra people to feed!! Am I being ridiculous?? I know they are providing a service all day but it gets out of control, no with tipping and feeding?? Can they just eat at cocktail hour or is that really bad of me to think?? I am so not a cheap person but ......

Re: Feeding Vendors
I am feeding my photographer, videographer and assistants. My band actually told me that they would prefer that I just give them a tip and no food. I was going to tip them anyway, so I might give them a little more than I was originally planning on. I'd ask your band.. they will be honest with you!

Re: Feeding Vendors
i think you definitely have to feed them. check with your place - mine charges 1/2 price for vendors...if i use vendors they recommend, it's no charge.

Believe it or not my mom sort of did at our meeting on Thursday! I was so mortified He said it was our choice and if we didnt mind them at CH then they could eat there- but what else was the guy supposed to say?? No ma'am you dont have to feed me and my guys. Granted we have no problem with them mingling at the CH but I think she feels obligated to pay for them.

Re: Feeding Vendors
Unfortunately....you have to feed the band. Esp since it was brought up already. I agree that is extremely I have an 8 piece band as well with 2 photo and videa. That is A LOT of $$. I don't want any of my vendors to do a half @ss job after dinner if they're pissed we didn't feed them.
Where does it end!

Re: Feeding Vendors
def ask your hall... mine were half off...would have been free if they were 'house' vendors. I'm pretty sure you have to feed them.

Re: Feeding Vendors
yes I had to feed the photographer ( just one of them though), and the DJ. They had vendor meals and were not the same price as my typical meal. I think our place charged us $30 for a vendor meal. I actually called the photographer and asked how many people would be eating and I am glad I did b/c he said that by the time the food is served he is gone and the assistant takes over. I would have paid for both of them if I hadn't asked.

Re: Feeding Vendors
Yep every vendor who stays at your wedding gets a meal but as someone said vendors are counted separate. Typically they either eat at their station or on a separate table and have a discounted meal.

Re: Feeding Vendors
And def ask them. I asked my band too and they said they didn't even like getting vendor meals b/c they only serve them after everyone has eaten and it's usually all rushed and not as good, and they have not time or interest in 'sit down' so I just arranged to give them some money for food. Others are 1/2 price at mine.

Re: Feeding Vendors
talk to your hall -- we had a large band as well, but since they were a house vendor their meals were free. our photographer was not a house vendor, so her meal was 1/2 price
i dont know the logistics of where/when they ate!

Re: Feeding Vendors
you don't sound cheap at all, asking that. It DOES get ridiculous when all of this adds up. You're paying them for their service PLUS giving a tip, it's definitely a nuisance to have to pay for their plate as well. My hall is really good because they take off 1/3 of the price for vendors. So obviously, i'm not too worried. But if it was full price, then I'd definitely have some issues with that. Ask your hall about it ahead of time. They really shouldn't be counted as 'guests'.
... that's my opinion.

Re: Feeding Vendors
some of them eat at CH anyways, it wont change the price you pay for them to eat there. Remember you are not paying the full price for them that you pay per plate for guests. Its either half the price or many RH's the vendors are free if its a house vendor.

Re: Feeding Vendors
I agree with the girl who said feed whomever is with you all day - - the photog. if you think about it, if your reception starts at 5 or 6 or 7 the band has time to eat before they come as does the dj.
I'm not sure if the RH is happy with the vendors eating at the CH - - mine seemed a bit vaugue on that but if you think about it the RH is acting 'big /generous' about doing 1/2 price meals for vendors. think about it . . . the vendors shouldn't be drinking and a big part of ther per plate cost is for open bar. so I'm thinking for vendor meals at 1/2 price we are still overpaying!!!! so eating at CH sounds quite ok to me.

Re: Feeding Vendors
I don't think we plan on feeding the venders durring the reception...they can eat at the CH. But one of my venders gave me a little piece of advice since they have worked at our RH several times. He said that we shouldn't pay for the vender meals because our RH will end up giving them a meal anyways. This is just from his experience though. I think its crazy to spend another 80/90 for 12 or so people.
