Feeling really sad and hurt..

Anyone else have people saying they are not coming even though you were led to believe they would? Half of the relatives I invited are sending back no's with not even so much as a 'wish we could be there' message. These are people I have known my entire life... My feelings are really hurt right now and I feel like my already small wedding is getting smaller by the day I wish this didn't bother me but it does so much... Anyone else go through this or have any advice?

we went through the same thing... Dhs family and family friends knew for the longest time about the wedding-they knew it was on LI- but then decided that they weren't going to make the 'LONG TRIP' to LI from CT---I know Dh was hurt and I KNOW his mom was hurt-some even refused to mail back the response card stating that we should know they aren't coming since it is 'so far away' ....my theory was that is was THEIR loss...if they didn't want to be there to share in our happiest day then so be it- they were missing out on a wonderful wedding and a wonderful time! The day of your wedding you will be completely overjoyed you will not notice their absence!

I am kind of hoping that in some ways so I don't have to pay extra, but do want the people FH and I care about to be there.

Gail was actually saying something similar the other day! She was like 'If they're not coming to yours, that means they won't come to mine!'

i totally understand where you are coming from...a lot of people that we really care about who were all like we can't wait are now like sorry we can't make it ... just enjoy it with those that are there!!

They are really going to miss great wedding? As long as you & your honey are there, well that is all you need. Remember this is your wedding don't let self centered people get you down, pay back is a *****.

hmm somewhere in the 160's....I was so surprised to see how many people Brett wanted to invite!! I thought I was safe from his guest list...guess not! Not to mention, starting a teaching job adds friends to the list...aye yi yi....

I know it stinks. Unfortunately, I know how you feel. I haven't even sent out invites yet & some friends from HS are already telling me they can't make it. It's very hurtful & I guess people don't realize how it makes us feel. Whatever happens, you will have a great day.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Most of my family lives out of state and they are all yessing me to death that they will be there but I think I'll be going through the same thing. We've gone way over our limit, so I hope to get a good amount of no's but in the same token I want the people I care about to be there.

But don't worry, your day will be amazing no matter what!! Feel better!

yep...been there. people who basically begged for an invite didn't come and two families of 3 and 2 didnt bother to show the day of. it didnt matter though , we had a great time with everyone who really wanted to be there! think of it teh way my husband did...fewer people to schmooze with, more fun to have with people who really love us!

Hunny don't feel bad!!!! My RSVP date is 4 days away and I haven't received more than 60 replies!!!
A few told me they 'lost' the invitation, a few said they're coming through another friend but not tell ME anything!!!! You ahve to keep thinking the people who will be there are the poeple who really matter and care about you!!!! Don't feel bad so many of us are going through the same thing!
We are all here for each other right?!?

I am so sorry about everyone's bad experiences!! I feel terrible for you guys... I haven't sent mine out yet and I am doing it this weekend...I am sure there are going to be people that I thought may come and probably won't. I can see it already. i think this happens to everyone and is an inevitble part of the wedding process and the people that do come to youre wedding, well you know their your true friends.
