where in Westchester do you live? We just bought a house in Ossining (on the border of Chappaqua) and should be moving in in May.
I don't know Westchester at ALL! I grew up in Long Island and have lived in the city for the last 5 years.
I'm going to get lost!!!

Tourist, I know that area. I live on Woodlawn which is the Bronx but I do all my shopping and go to the movies in Yonkers and beyond.
There's a great restaurant near you. The Bayou? I forget the name of the street. It's ecclectic but pretty cool.
LOVE- the Bayou! I live walking distance from there. Its on Gramatan Avenue. Its Canjun themed- yum-mmy!I know Woodlawn a little too. I have some friends from there, and used to go to Rory Dolan's & occassionaly still go there & to other bars over there.
I used to go to Rorys but not anymore. Just for the food, really. McGilligan's is much better, I think, in terms of atmosphere. And Rambling House (that's owned by Rory as well). My FH goes to the Heritage because alot of people from his area back home bartend there and he knows them from home.
I think the bra-laden bar (lol) is hysterical at the Bayou. And the trillion hot sauces lined up all around. And the KISS statues. LOL

It hink it depends where exactly you live, but I don't think so. I tihnk that's why being in the Village of Bronxville is so much more expensive than being in the part of Bronxville that's in Yonkers. I'm, near the too. On the Border of Yonkers & Mount Vernon, near Cross County. The address of my hair salon is Bronxville, but I always thought that as Yonkers- ( on Bronx River road near Midland)
I like tha theatre too- some little kiddies earlier on, but very few teenagers!
That's what I mean....I had a friend that lived on Midland Ave (you know after you go under the Cross County Parkway on your way up to Bronxville? - she was the first left just past the ramp for the Cross Co Parkway west) - that is considered Bronxville but I always thought she was being pretentious because I always thought it was Yonkers. But I saw her mail one day and sure enough, it said Bronxville. So I wonder if anyone in that area is considered Bronxville school district yet it's not that expensive ot live there.
I love the Super Stop n Shop in the Cross County mall. LOL

You girls are so close to me. I ate at the Bayou a few weeks ago with my DH. He loves spicey food. I also like the food at Rory's but it gets so loud and crowded there at times. I really like Louie and Johnnies on the same side as Cross County near the Deegan. The food is great there.
I am looking forward to a Westchester GTG.

Re: FeliciaDA aka the Westchester thread
We all know so many of the same places, funny given that this is a Long Island board!! LOL I grew up in Yonkers so I know MANY of the bars you gals refer to
I WISH I could afford Bronxville or Rye real estate ... we are 'technically' Scarsdale but really, its NOTHING like Garth Road, etc.! We live right of Central Park Ave, only a few miles away from the four-corners in Hartsdale.
Even CO-OPS in Hartsdale are going for much $$$ ... sometimes I don't know which is worse, LI or Westchester...?
For now we are staying put in our teeny 1-bedroom until (hopefully) real estate prices go down a tad bit.

Felicia,
I used to be in Scarsdale also, right off Central Ave. I wonder if we were in the same place. Are you in a building?

FFIL said part of Bronxville is is in the city of yonkers. so i guess you pay yonkers taxes. Those are the oens inteh real estate ads that say, 'Brnxvlle po) that must be where your freind is.
I think that's the Yonkers school district, but I'm not sure.
I like rambling hosue, only been there twice though. Yeah, Rory's gets too crazy.
I used to sho at the super stop & shop but now FH goes o nhis way hoem in WHite plains. ( I'm so spoiled) but when I do shop, that's my store. I've never been to Louie & Johnny's, but friends have reccomened it.

I used to live in the apartment buildings across from the Burlington Coat Factory shopping center. I looked at your building, but they do not take dogs and DH has a dog. We were also going to buy right next door to you at Scarsdale Ridge, but we decided against it.

Okay, so I know that this thread is from many moons ago but maybe someone will see this soon. This thread is awesome for me!!!! So funny!
I grew up in Harrison and had to post on how much I loved it. Then, we moved to Greenwich, CT on the other side of Rye and I was bummed. DH and I got married in Purchase, NY and am now looking at houses and townhomes in Rye Brook and Chappaqua. I feel like I love Scarsdale, Rye and Armonk but the pricepoint of entry is just too high there for anything, unless you want to get a co-op and I have lived in an apartment buiding for the last 6 years. Need a change!!! I love the area because it is so not built up! And the schools are awesome!

I always laugh when I see this thread, because it started with my name in it , then it became the Westchester thread. I was surprised at how many Westchester girls were on a Long Island site
I can only dream of owning a house in any of the areas you mentioned -- just cannot afford it. In a past life (with my ex) I lived in Rye Brook for awhile, which was lovely. I'm also sick of co-ops and really want my OWN HOUSE , but unless we move further north, into Putnam County or thereabouts, I dont see how FH and I can afford it
