FeliciaDA aka the Westchester thread

Original post by Charly

where in Westchester do you live? We just bought a house in Ossining (on the border of Chappaqua) and should be moving in in May.

I don't know Westchester at ALL! I grew up in Long Island and have lived in the city for the last 5 years.

I'm going to get lost!!!

it totally is...

just the other day i found out that a woman who i have been working with for 2 years is a 'step-aunt' to a girl who used to live on my block. i was wondering whatever happened to her, and now i know!

too funny... i can't even remember how we got hooked up with the harrison crew. muffie and i went to high school in rye, but for the life of me i can't remember how we met jesse and his friends...

talk about 6 degrees of separation

I am in Westchester also. I grew up on LI and love it there, but I do not think my DH ever wants to move there. We are in lower Westchester on the Bronxville/Yonkers border and it is very close to everything that is why we like it. I used to live in Scarsdale before I got married.

We should have a Westchester GTG.

Hi girls!! I am so glad I found this thread!! FH and I just bought a house in Hartsdale. I was born and raised on LI and after the wedding I am moving up there. So far I really like it and it's really pretty up there. I also love the fact that we are close to Manhattan. My fiance is from the Bronx and we also had to decide between LI and Westchester, but Westchester eventually won out.

I am soo new to the area that I have been going up on the weekend to familiarize my self with where things are. Any recommendations for nails and hair salons and restaurants??

Hair salon - Dee Francheti (I am butchering her name) in Hartsdale village. Dee owns the salon and I currently go to her husband's salon in Manhattan. The salon is located all the way on the right hand corner as you exit the village towards Central Avenue.

I can recommend the Cherylyn Salon, its in Hartsdale right on Central Park Avenue, before you hit the 4-corners. The girl I go to is Laura, she is a sweetie.
I do my nails in NYC so I cannot help you there, but there are a few places right in Harstdale village..

Restaurants -- oh so many!! I like the chinese place right in Hartsdale by the train station, for the life of me I cannot remember the name!!

Hartsdale is BEAUTIFUL I think you'll like it there .. do you work in NYC, I commute in/out of Hartsdale train station so we can be train buddies

Sure I'll help, do you have a nice backyard to BBQ? LOL!

I envy you girls, houses in Westchester are hard to come by, glad its worked out for you both!! I think you'll love living in the County, I love it there .. really feel free to FM or email with any questions, I've lived here my entire life .

OK now I'm embarrassed Oct04Bride that what started as a 'FeliciaDA' in the thread is still in the title when it really is just a 'Westchester thread' for all us Westchester gals

LOL

Hi, I'm bumping up teh wetchester threasd after seeign the link to it on the BHB post about a GTG.

You guys are convincing me that we need to look into hartsdale more when we move.
I was lookign for soemthign with a little more of a neighborhood/community feel though, which is why I like Rye. It is $$$ though.

Are any of you getting any wedding related stuff in Westchester?
I looked at inviations in the Westhcester , but they were expensive. And in party City on Central Avenue, but I didn't like anything there.

I've booked some of my stuff from Westchester vendors. My band is Moonlight Silhouettes from Dobbs Ferry, my florist is Flowers by Lori in WP, my makeup artist is a friend of mine who's the manager of Nordstrom cosmetics and I think that's all that's local. My invites I'm ordering from a catalog, my dress is from Kleinfelds and my photo/video is Duet.

Ok, i'm being nosy-
even though the origianl post was for felica.
I'm in Westchester too.
I'm from LI ( hence the wedding) , but FH moved to Yonkers/Scarsdale border when he was 8 & I live in Mt. Vernon now.

Posted by september2004

I used to 'hang out' at the 7-11 on Garth Road, a quick pit stop for the slurpies

When I was looking for my apartment in Mt vernon we used to stop there( near FH's house) a lot for snacks before FH drove me back to LI

Ossining is nice. We are considering Mamaroneck, Hartsdale & Rye, but for co-ops. Houses are too expensive. We'll live in my apartment in Mt. Vernon ( Fleetwood ,actually, if you know the area)

I miss being near the family on LI , though.

Tourist, I know that area. I live on Woodlawn which is the Bronx but I do all my shopping and go to the movies in Yonkers and beyond.

There's a great restaurant near you. The Bayou? I forget the name of the street. It's ecclectic but pretty cool.

I think that is a great neighborhood to live in.

Do you know (I am trying to find out) if a person lives in that section but technically Yonkers, does the Bronxville school border cross over to take kids from 'Yonkers'?

My friend lives in Valley Stream but so close to Hewlett that her kids go to Hewlett schools. Which is great, Hewlett is a better school district.

Just wondering if the same was for Bronxville/Yonkers area.

I love Bronxville. The movie cinema is my favorite. No noisey kids! But too $$$ for us to live in.

Re: FeliciaDA aka the Westchester thread

It hink it depends where exactly you live, but I don't think so.
I tihnk that's why being in the Village of Bronxville is so much more expensive than being in the part of Bronxville that's in Yonkers.
I'm, near the too. On the Border of Yonkers & Mount Vernon, near Cross County. The address of my hair salon is Bronxville, but I always thought that as Yonkers- ( on Bronx River road near Midland)

I like tha theatre too- some little kiddies earlier on, but very few teenagers!

my band is from Pleasantville- but that was coincidence- I found them online.

my veil & probably headpeice are form noline. My sheos were, then i found other oens on LI with my mom, but it was parade, so it could have been anywhere.

ets- sorry for the 3 posts in a row- but i kept finding things I wanted to quote.
