Lucille caters to women, however gyms are not allowed to only have one sex be admitted.
I have a memebership with Lucille and there are men at the gym.

Re: Female Gyms?
Yes they are. Its the law. If they were not allowed in there would be several lawsuits regarding sexism.
They really try to disuade men (who are not spouses) to join but if they insist then they are allowed to join.
I know...they have all gyms and we cant have a safe haven for women only but their enrollment is usually very low.
Alot of senior men join as well because it is a cheaper gym.

Re: Female Gyms?
I thought Lucille Roberts was for women only. Check it out. Also remember, the guys are there to work out just like you. So many women feel uncomfortable around them as they workout. But the gym is for you & working out, getting healthy is for you. You need to overcome that insecure feeling. They arent checking you out 24/7 most guys (from my own experience) are just there to get a good workout in. By the way if you need any tips, Im becoming a personal trainer (im taking courses) Ill be glad to give you some!
GOOD LUCK!

Re: Female Gyms?
I agree that most men aren't there to check out ladies. I go every morning to the gym at 6AM. And, it is better because it is less crowded and people are there just to work out and go so it's not as social. I go to Synergy- I just joined last week. I LOVE it. If you want to select an all ladies gym, there is also Ladies Workout Express.

I agree with the other girls. For the most part guys are there to just work out. You should not feel bad about working out in front of them.

I just signed up for lucille roberts 3 weeks ago, I like it, the classes are fun. There are 1 or 2 guys that go there, but you barely notice them.

Re: Female Gyms?
Try curves or ladies workout express it is not a regular gym though just circuit training for 1/2 hr. If you go to each website you can find locations near you. HTH

Re: Female Gyms?
You can try to find a YMHA or YWHA. I was once part of a YMHA because I needed access to a close-by pool and they would have womens only hours a few times a week for those that were more religious or didn't want to work out in front of guys.

Re: Female Gyms?
This probably won't help you if you're looking Nasau, but when I lived in the Village, it was a very gay area, so the majority of the men at the gym were gay so they totally left me alone.
I wouldn't be too self conscious about working out with guys. Take it from me, I just started going back to the gym in January when I finished my chemotherapy treatments. I literally walk in and out of there completely bald and no one has even given me a second glance.

I used to go there too! Back in the day. I liked it but when I cancelled, they kept charging my account which pissed me off.
