FH and I almost called it off yesterday

After yet another issue with FILs, FH and I almost called it off yesterday. FFIL said something really horrible to me yesterday and although it was said out of anger, I'm having a really hard time gettng over it and FH knows it. It angered my father so much that he stopped what he was doing just to make sure I was alright.

FH and I made a promise to each other that we'd never let our parents come between us after yesterday, and he promised we'd take a step back from his parents.

Problem is, he's come to THEIR defense OVER MINE more times than I'd like and that makes me nervous. I just kept saying to him 'look me in the face and tell me that your parents have not treated me poorly all year and I'll shut up. Look at me and tell me they haven't been disrespectful and haven't carrried on. Just tell me that they haven't.' And he couldn't do that. So he obviously knows they aren't always right.

8 days to go and I'm really nervous now. My father is scared. I don't know what to do.

Sorry to hear you FILs are causing you so much stress only a week before your wedding. Thats the last thing you need right now..... Just keep in mind, 8 more days and you wont have to worry about wedding related stress adding to whatever it is that they are piling on you..... I would say just try to distance yourself from them and hopefully FH will come around. Good Luck

awww hunny!!!! Toxic parents are hard to deal with I can imagine! Don't let them ruin your relationship, and make sure your FH got YOUR back!!!! It's good at he at least admitted his parents aren't doing the right thing! Good luck, try to stay away from them!!

Awww, Robin, I'm sooooooo sorry to hear that FILs are causing more drama, yet again. I'm very sad to hear the FH doesn't stick up for you. All this time I thought he had been on your side through the issues with his parents.

I wish I could offer some words of wisdom to get you through this, but all I can suggest is to sit down with him and have a really frank discussion about his parents' involvement/interferance/meddling/unreasonable demands.

Don't let future in-laws stand in the way. Keep positive and ignore their disrespectful comments. Anyone who makes these comments is not secure with themselves. Good luck, and enjoy everyday up until your wedding.

I'm soooo sorry. I'm sure it has to do with the stress you and FH are dealing with, being so close to the wedding. I hope things get better for you so that you're able to remember what your wedding day is all about and actually enjoy it.

Awwww. I wish I had something to say to make you feel better. Go with your heart and remember...if you have any doubts, discuss them very seriously with your FH before the wedding. If it's truly just frustration with his parents, work it out because you should not let them ruin your happiness.

What the f*&# is wrong with these people? Stand up to them and do it now before it's too late. Don't let them ruin your day. If I were you I would tell them where to go and if they don't like it then don't come to the wedding. Mean people suck!
