Oh no, hang in there! Nothing wrong with waiting a few years to celebrate with a party! It will all work out!!
There are better days to come!

I hear ya! We contemplated doing that, but then we realized we would never financially be at a point to afford a wedding...so we decided to keep things the way it is. Things change...you'll have school loans, possibly children...then the cost of a wedding will be the same as it is now. Just a thought... Money is an icky thing!
Good luck! Still chat with us!

It may not be the mot glamourous job, but waitressing always paid my bills, got my nails done, paid my car, insurance and then some! I think I made more then!!!
It may work with your schedule too, depending on where you go. Good Luck.

I agree...its never the right time...the more you postpone remember the halls are getting more expensive each day...I booked in June and they're already more expensive...its hard, we're all struggling, but its better to just get it out of the way...JMHO

This is my point exactly. Right now I cannot afford a wedding but I never will. There is always an emergency that is more important. I am going to stick it through and make the best of it.
Good luck.

do you have any other options? like-
- can you change the date to a weekday? -do your own flowers? -candle centerpieces -get the most basic photo package and make albums later? there are ways to have a great wedding but still cut costs.

103005FallBride just made me think about something...We will probably want to be home owners by that time, so we STILL won't have the $$
I need to win the lottery, really. Problem is that we are still unsure of who is paying for what. We have tried getting a more direct answer but have not had any success.

Hey there is NOTHING wrong with that! you FH sounds very pratical and thank your stars he is with you. I know its rough but this will give you some time to be together without the pressures of a wedding and give you guys time to catch up with your bills. Also nothing breaks a marriage up more than a debit!

We are currently getting the proof-only package. We tried going for the candle centerpiece thing, but my parents liked flowers better. FFIL is supposed to talk to his minister friend about performing the ceremony and saving us some $$, but he is not getting on it. Trust me, I have reminded FH a thousand times to tell his father to call...

The same here I lost my job in June and FH said he had no problem paying for the wedding himself but I didn't want him busting his *** to pay for it. So instead of getting married in'06 we changed our contract 'till '07. It will work out for you. This way you don't have to struggle while planning your wedding you'll be able to enjoy it.

I agree with you....I'm thinking about the same thing. Maybe you can wear your dress and have a small ceremony and no reception...or a small ceremony and have people come over your house afterwards. I have a friend that had the ceremony at a park and then had a BBQ at her house. She had the photographer take pictures of the ceremony and family pictures.
