Fh and my ring vent

Fh is in Texas for 3 months for work. He left on Wednesday night and I miss him so much already. I can't believe I have to wait eighty something more days till he is home.
Also, I am upset about me engagement ring. I got it reset after the diamond fell out the first time (still had the stone) and when it came back it was so ugly... Like way to much metal around it. It looked like it was wearing a helmet. So I got it fixed again to look more like it originally did but with a few changes to make it stronger, and I picked it up Thursday. I thought it looked even better than it did at first and I noticed how straight the diamond was and how even it was between the two side stones (the first time it didn't look like it was set evenly). I was so happy with it. But I woke up this morning and it looks shifted off to the side again. I know its a very delicate setting but I swear I haven't knocked it or anything. Is anyone else having problems like this?

Re: Fh and my ring vent

I'm sorry this happened to you! I have never heard of this happening. Clearly the workmanship is poor. Can you complain to the manager of the store or something?

Re: Fh and my ring vent

i can't relate to the ring problem (sorry) but i just wanted to comment on your other situation, because i'm in the same boat. My FH lives in Colorado and he proposed when I went out there to spend the summer with him. Now we're basically apart until the week of our wedding. That's 9 more weeks of this nonsense (we already got thru our first 5 1/2) It's HARD! And things tend to get a little 'cold' after a bit - like because we hate being on the PHONE, we end up getting a little short with one another. Ahhh!! So i just wanted to tell ya that i know what you're going thru. Have a little patience and try to talk to each other as much as possible. The three months will pass quickly.

Re: Fh and my ring vent

Wow. It must be stressful to have to plan the wedding without him around. My fh will be back mid-January (i think) so we'll still have six months to go so that does make it a little easier. I give you a lot of credit! Are you moving to Colorado after the wedding?

Oh, and in reference to the second post, the most awkward thing about the ring it that I know the guy who made it. We have friends in common and so I've hung out with him a bunch before this. Plus, one of my bridesmaids is his cousin's fiance. So its uncomfortable complaining AGAIN when I know him personally. And he is such a nice guy. I don't even know if it was poor craftsmanship or just that the setting is almost too delicate that it won't work. (But I looooovvveeeee how it looks!)

Show us pics...I don't really know what you mean about the setting...like my setting is VERY high and I've bashed my ring around a few times and it hasn't moved at all.

For something thats HOLDING a precious gem, it would worry me to have such problems like this, I would either complain again (even tho the same thing is probably going to happen again) or I would just see another jeweler?

OMG - YESSSS!! It really has been hard doing this all alone. Sometimes I feel like I'm planning an imaginary wedding. lol. Because the groom is nowhere in sight. I'm glad you don't have to do what I am - that you'll still have 6 months together before the wedding. Yeah, I'm moving back to Co with him afterwards. I'm just sooo excited to see him again!! More so than I am about doing the actual wedding. haha. I just miss him SO much!

Re: Fh and my ring vent

I would take your ring to another jewelry to get a second opinion. If the jewelry says the craftsmanship is not up to par then bring it back to the first jeweler ask for a refund. There is no reason why you should settle for this.
Also, I'm just curious. What kind of cut do you have? My sister has a round cut and she had the same problem. I noticed that round cuts have a tendency to rotate and if it's not perfectly round, it will shift.

Re: Fh and my ring vent

I understand about the ring problem. My diamond kept coming lose also. When I went to a second jewler they told em that the ring was not set correctly and the prongs where all different sizes. They also said a diamond came come lose depending on teh top of the diamond. I was very nervous about losing the diamond so after it came lose for the fourth time I decided to get a whole new setting. And I am glad I did becasue I really love it and knock on wood the diamond has not come lose once.
