Re: FH doesn't want video, should i splurge
I think you should splurge, in the grand scheme of things (spending thousands on your wedding) what's another 1-2K?All this money you are spending, don't you want to be able to look back at everything you did?
Plus, every time this topic arises, I always mention this; my mom passed away 5 years ago, and they only thing I have left to hear and see her are pictures and videos from my brothers and sisters weddings and my childhood.
It's so worth it.

Re: FH doesn't want video, should i splurge
i would definitely do it- or at least have a friend or family member do it for you.after we got married last june, DH and i were in the hotel that night like ' what just happened?!' the whole day that you spend years planning goes by in a blur- you remember it, but not all the little things... the best mans toast, what the officiant said during the ceremony, etc.
we got lucky- my best friends dad LIVES for videotaping stuff- LOL hes got a great digital video camera. he also doesn't drink or dance ( very religious) so it really didn't take away anything from him at the reception... he came to the rehearsal the night before to see where to stand during the ceremony, and he put everything on a DVD with scene selection and everything!! we don't watch it much, but i'm so glad we have it just to be able to remember all the little details i just mentioned.... i would say its worth it!
you could even buy a video camera for a few hundred dollars, have somebody tape it for you, and then that way you and DH will have a videocamera to use for all your future vacations and family events together...

YES! Definitely, if you don't want to spend a lot of money you can just get raw footage----II love our edited copy but sometimes I think I like my raw footage better since it is what *really* happened that day!!!

I didnt want one either, FH did. When we went to look for a photographer, I told him I really didnt want a video. The Photographer said, 'Look at it this way, maybe you think you dont want to spend the money and your not going to watch it after a couple of months but its really for your kids. Dont you wish you had a video of your Grandparents wedding day'? So much for customer service!! I was sold.........

Re: FH doesn't want video, should i splurge
we are not spending $ on it. we are having a family member do it. the ceremony is all we want taped anyway....and it would cost more than the entire ceremony to get it done...why spend more recording it when it can be done for the cost of the tape...and he/we can transfer it to DVD ourselves?

I was originally going to skip the videographer but decided to have one at the end.Just get a modest priced one. Your children will thank you one day.

Re: FH doesn't want video, should i splurge
GET THE VIDEO! We just got ours back (we dragged our feet after the wedding) and I cannot tell you how much we LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!!! It has every detail of the day, captures every little moment of people being themselves, you actually get to SEE the ceremony, your family members are all on there....can't say enough. Without a doubt, it is among the best $$ we spent. We used Bliss (Jerry) and I just don't have enough good things to say about how wonderful their work is. He was the first vendor to arrive and the last to leave.
This is totally worth the money!
