FH got a wedding invite...

And it was addressed to:

'Mr. Charles ___ and Fiance'

I thought this was a little odd, is it just me??

they might not have known your name??

Although, they should have gone out of their way to find it out...or the very least...ask him...

Re: FH got a wedding invite...

I agree, it's possible they didn't know your name. I had a situation like that when I was sending my invites out. We went all out to trying to find out and we never got any return phone calls or anything from the cousin or his parents, or other cousins who knew the fiancee. I had no choice but to put 'and finacee' on the invite. I felt bad but was up against a wall.

I agree. Or they just may not know anything about etiquette. When we were addressing our invites, DH wanted to write 'and Guest' for his friend's fiance, because he didn't know her last name! I told him there was no way in hell I was going to do that and made him call his friend and find out her last name. I wouldn't take too much offense, it's most likely them not knowing any better.

Re: FH got a wedding invite...

I realize this is not the most 'appropriate' way to address someone but that person probably did not think it was bad or did not think about asking.

We have to realize that at this very moment we are all breathing wedding in and out. We know all the etiquette rules or we ask here just in case we do a 'faux pas'.

Everybody does not worry so much about it.

Don't worry about it! At least the person included you 'somehow'.

I agree, I'm sure they felt bad not having a name but didn't want to further insult you by puting 'and guest'.

I agree. Last Fall FH and I were invited to a wedding by rather good friends of ours (FH was in the wedding) and the invite came to FH addressed 'and guest', I was livid, they know who I am, they know FH and I had been dating a long time and on the verge of being engaged and they didn't use my name.

Re: FH got a wedding invite...

My co-worker addressed my wedding invitation with the 'and Fiance'. The thing is she knows his name (maybe not his last name but she could've asked me). I thought it was really odd but FH doesn't care about things like that so I didn't let it bother me.

Re: FH got a wedding invite...

If it makes you feel any better, DH received an invite while we were engaged and it was marked 'and Guest' and he responded with my name and the place card still said 'and Guest'.

Re: FH got a wedding invite...

How close is this person to your FH? Maybe they didn't know your name and in the hustle and bustle of things they forgot to find out. Does it really matter in the long run?
