FH & I quit smoking yesterday !

Ok, for the second time fh & I quit smoking yesterday. We quit almost two years ago and stayed smoke free for 1 & 1/2 years...then we started planning the wedding. I just can not gain the weight like last time.

Congrats!! I quit last September, but FH is still battling with it!!

He was doing so well, then BAM a pack every other day again...

wow good for you! that was one of the hardest things I ever did in my life , I was a pack a day for 15 years ! YOU CAN DO IT!

chew gum alot that helped, take walks , practice breathing ( i know sounds weird, but deep breathing when you get a craving helped me)
I also did not drink for MONTHS to avoid the cravings when i would drink

I still crave it sometimes when i drive , or after a good meal but i worked too hard to go back and I saved so much money already from not smoking not to mention it really is discusting...the smell now makes me sick

thats great! congrats & stick with it! and dont forget to reward yourself at the milestones- like after 1 week, 1 month- nice dinners someplace or a spa treatment or even a new outfit! good luck

CONGRATS!! I am smoke free for a year half now and it was one of the best things I have ever done. Think about all the money that you will save!!

FH has been 'trying to quit' for nearly 3 years now (the whole time I've been with him). This stress with the house and his parents is certainly not helping the situation, that's for sure!

found this- its the benefits after quitting smoking- its amazing how quickly the body starts reparing the effects:

20 minutes
Blood pressure and pulse return to normal

8 hours
Nicotine and carbon monoxide levels in the blood are halved, oxygen levels in the blood return to normal

24 hours
Carbon monoxide is eliminated from the body and the lungs start to clear out the build up of tar

48 hours
There is no nicotine left in the body. Taste and smell are greatly improved.

72 hours
Breathing becomes easier, bronchial tubes begin to relax, energy levels increase

CONGRATS!

FH has been smoking since he was 16 I think, maybe younger. He is 29. He quit for 2 months right after we met, but then we broke up for a day and he started immediately after we broke up. Guess he was stressed out from being without me! I hope he can quit soon too, probably not until after the wedding though. It's so expensive and so bad for you, so I give you big props for quitting.
