FH is frustrated & so am I...Destination wedding????
Hi ladies, so since everything is just not going well, FH (who is currently deployed) said f-it! Lets just go to an all inclusive resort just you and me ceremony there and honeymoon the rest of the time and we'll have a small party when we get back...
I see the good in this, i guess we could have an indoor off season event for cheap since my main wants are fall, waterfront, evening wedding and that is proving to be challenging for a good price.
On an island sunset by the water is a given...
any thoughts or recommendations are highly appreciated...I am liking this idea more & more...

I think it depends on what you want to do and can do chica.....
I personally would NOT be ok with a destination wedding... away from so many ppl... Yes i know its only Me and my FH BUT I just dont think i could do that...
But in ur case, if u think U would like it then GO AHEAD!!!!! Is your family comign wiht u???

honestly, that is exactly what I wanted to do as well. My mom told me that she would never speak to me again if that happened and that we were having a big party. Its such a headache and I hate planning it. If I could just do destination, I totally would. But again, that is completely up to you. It sounds like you have a similar attitude to me. Just ask yourself, are you OK with not having all of your friends and family there?

I dont think anyone would come, but maybe my moh but thats it...he said we can do a ceremony for everyone when we get back...
his idea was go have the ceremony and basically party and have our honeymoon...my idea was to do that and then have another ceremony and reception at one of the halls when we get back...its ok because we weren't going to invite many people, ideally only 50...and they get the second version right?

I am inviting too only 50guest... but i cant have the idea of having a destination wedding for my and FH... we both want to get married in a Catholic Church.. have my dad/mom give me away... and reception here... (well a little one!) But hey, if it is better for you, then go ahead CHICA

Have you decided where to have your reception? I've been having so much trouble with my situation..I think that has alot to do with his idea seeming so appealing...but at the same time, think of it...on a beach, sunset, beautiful clear waters, balmy weather, just the two of you, it sounds pretty romantic to me, but I am going to miss having some people there...
but thats what the second one is for! as long as its inexpensive, I really dont want to pay a lot for the second version...where would I have it? dont know...it will be off season so I should have my pick right ?

No mami... Actually we are not looking/booking anything right UNLESS we can buy a house... First we want to get a house then get married....
I have looked... but no decisions... We alredy made our Engagement party list and we only have 52 guest... this is IF EVERYONE COMES... (lol whcih we know NOT everyone shows up...)
I think I will just have it in a Restaurant.. or if we have our house by then, then it will be our house....

IMO destination weddings are awesome! But I could never do one because my family ...mostly my mom would give me so much anxiety over it i'm better off just paying out my a$$ for a wedding here...LOL If it is what you guys really want I say do it, and as long as your fam and more importantly you guys are good with not having everyone there and just a party when you get back , then do it! I actually have two good friends doing destination weddings next year... Both in Cancun, Mexico one in January at Le Blanc Resort...and one at Dreams Resort in May.

also for your reception here since you are already married , when you go look at places dont tell them its a wedding just tell them a party cause you already had your wedding...you save mucho buck! my FH's cousin did that and just wore a nice white gown, no cocktail hour or viennese ..kept it simple ...it was less than half the price pp for a wedding.

You know I really think his mom, and my grandparents want to see a ceremony...my daughter as well...I was thinking we could have another informal one...maybe I could wear the same dress and have it at a place like crestwood manor during the winter?
any thoughts?

I love this idea! But if we have a ceremony for the fam along with the party there goes that plan!

You know, we've been together for so long I dont know...I like the idea of them there, but when I think of all the aggravation I'm going through to try to make it perfect... seriously: sunset, in the fall, only bride, waterfront, and weekend does not come cheap or easy! If we have it on some island when we come back the pressure is off, then its not that big a deal..i think...bang: I dont know...

FH and i wanted to do this SOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad!! We wanted to go to vegas with just our bridal party and elope. We even paid for the whole package in full!! When I spoke to my parent's about it, they freaked!! The only reason we are having an actual wedding is bc they are paying for it.
If I could, i'd do what you are doing in a heartbeat!

Re: FH is frustrated & so am I...Destination wedding????
I would lovvveee a destination wedding, but we have to have a church wedding, and I agree we should since our religion is an important part of our lives, and our families lives.... but if it wasn't, I would totally have flown to an island this year and had a wedding on the beach.. I'm going to a destination wedding in the DR in July.. It's at the Paradisus Punta Cana and I've heard its beautiful.. It's all-inclusive.. I can let you know how that goes...
Also, my cousin was MOH for a wedding that was on a cruise!! They stopped at a port in the bahamas or somewhere like that, and had the wedding on the beach! (the cruiseline set that up) and then everyone went back onto the ship and they had the reception in the cruiseships club which they had all the themselves.. I heard it was awesome and it's really a unique idea! Good luck deciding!
