FH Needs Some Action...

FH Needs Some Action...

And by action...I mean wedding band action. So here is the 'issue' we have. My FH doesn't not wear ANY jewelry. He is not opposed to wearing a wedding band and was super cute and excited to go shopping for one. The problem is...he has literally tried on over 12 rings and seen over 30 and can't find one he likes. We've been to the local jewelry stores and he hasn't 'loved' anything yet. He likes the black tungsten bands, but wants something 'different.' Definitely no stones or diamonds (not his thing). I'm all for him getting something out of the mold as long as it looks like a wedding band. He's a video gamer/skater/Sci-fi vibe guy. Does anyone have any recommendations of places me and my boy could look for unique rings? I feel terrible because I have the engagement ring and wedding band of my dreams and he can't find a wedding band to save his life! Thanks for ANY help ladies!!

I completely understand, FH had the same exact problem lol he wanted something very plain but a little different and that he didn't want diamonds either . He went with something like this. We used Dennis mole jewelers. He has a store in bethpage, and in Manhattan. Dennis is so creative and is just absolutely awesome! . Good luck!

We just ordered mine yesterday finally, and FH still doesn't have his. He thought all along he wanted yellow gold & now it seems he likes Tungsten. He can't wear it for work, so it will only be for weekends/when we go out. Not sure what you mean by unique but Busy Bee Jewelers in Massapequa hd a lot of tungsten.

Ask your jeweler if they have a book of Men's rings. FH similarly wanted something different he just didn't know what, and most shops don't carry a ton of 'unique' men's rings. We used the same jeweler for my band and my e-ring (LaMonica in Bohemia) and basically he tried on different widths and metals to get an idea of shape/size, and then flipped through a book of HUNDREDS of men's rings, I mean they had everything. Black, White, Gold, Etched, Detailed, Plain, Stones/No Stones, Etc Etc. And the store special ordered it for him. So I suggest asking your jeweler if they have a book of designs to choose from or check out my Jeweler for sure!

My FH isn't a big jewelry guy either. He went with a titanium ring. He is a cop and he likes it because the color is more of a gun medal color lol. He got a very simple one. We got it at Gabriel Jeweler in Tri County they have lots of options and books full of rings too.

try tanga.com. My FH sounds the same as yours- not a jewelry guy, excited for the ring, therefore picky. This site sells tungsten bands for $20...I know, because we have ordered two of them! They are legit, good quality. I don't know why they have such good prices, but it has let FH be picky and have a change of heart and still cost us a fraction of a jewelry store ring.

My fiance is the same! He was SOOO picky about his ring!!! He wanted a titanium ring, and we ended up having his custom made through a jewelry designer on Etsy - RomasBanaitis

Here is his.. But not this color inside... I had one made to match as well (not same design)... and we had them engraved. They are SOOO light!

I really like your etsy one ^

My guy went with a simple tungsten one from Gennaro Jewelers in Bellmore.

Thanks for all the feedback!!! I'm going to hit up some of the jewelers you all recommended! He's looked through a ton of the books at jewelers and nothing yet. We've started to delve into Etsy, but he's hesitant not seeing/feeling a ring before buying it. I'm sure if we don't find something I'll be posting for more feedback. Thanks again! You girls are always so helpful!!!

My DH doesn't ever wear rings either so he was surprised when he found a band he loved - he ended up with a plain white gold band with some design on the edges and it looks great on him.

At first, he loved a Tungsten band but the woman at the store told us that God forbid something happened, they need vice grips to get them off because the metal doesn't bend or break and that was terrifying I know plenty of people with them though and they've never had a problem. We got our bands at the Kay in Broadway mall.

Just something to think about with tungsten.. I know two different guys who had them and had them shatter (one of them had it happen to different rings THREE times). It's supposed to be one of the most durable metals, but drop it the wrong way and it will shatter. Just something to think about when deciding on a jeweler.. make sure it's insured!

Etsy can be great but you definitely risk not liking it once you have it. I'm still waiting on a gift I bought my uncle on Etsy a month ago and my wedding is in 10 days, eeek! I would recommend Tri-county in Levittown. It can be hit or miss but they have a lot of wedding stuff and very original stuff that you may have luck finding something unique for him.

Re: FH Needs Some Action...

Thank you ALL for your awesome suggestions! There were a few there that I thought would be 'the one.' As I was sending him links that you all had suggested he eventually did some searching and came across Larsenjewelers.com. they have a ton of rings. Some are generic, but a lot are VERY unique. They also carry retailers that you can't find in stores. So if anyone else has a hard to please FI like mine its worth a look. Their return policy is super liberal too, so we aren't afraid to order online, sight unseen, because we can always return it. Below I posted a pic of the ring my FH will be ordering. Its quite bright and my mom likened it to a lava lamp Lol . But what my boy wants he gets. He was hesitant at first but like I told him, he's the only wearing it, and he's the only one that has to love it. I'm really happy for him because he's so excited he 'found the ring.' Thanks again on behalf of me and my psychedelic FH for all the help!
