FH's Aunt ruined the surprise.....a little long...

So I went to FH's neice's christening on Sunday..we are both the godparents....the whole day goes by fine, and we go to the part at a hall afterward for some dinner.

Well, FH has some family that he isn't too fond of, and doens't really speak to. I am sitting with a bunch of his relatives trying to fit in, meeting new people. I've met his one aunt one time in my whole life, and it was at FH's sister's baby shower. So everyone is sitting and talking, and this aunt walks in, comes over, says hello to everyone...and the first words out of her mouth as she pulls out a chair to me are:

'So, you're shower is next weekend?' I looked up at her, and 5 other women looked at her and gasped....she ruined it!!!! She then says, 'Well just don't tell anyone I told you.' WHO DOES THAT? I would NEVER go up to a bride and say anything about her shower...

It was supposed to be a surprise, and I can't tell you how much I wanted it to be a surprise. I hate it when brides know about their shower beforehand. I told EVERYONE I wanted it to be a surprise. And 1 week before, she RUINS it!!

I told FH what she said to me bc he saw I was upset and wouldn't let me go back to the party until I told him, and he was furious! Everyone was trying to keep it a secret and she messed it up. I won't let him tell my bm's or our mothers bc I don't want to ruin the fun for them. And I don't want my family mad at his family. But I am so disappointed.

I can't get that surprise back, and I am so mad at this woman. I want to tell this woman how mad I am at her....Sorry, just needed to vent, I can't tell my friends otherwise they'll know I know...

OMG....what an idiot!!!!!!!!!! Who the heck does that???? I'm sorry your surpise was ruined. I'm sure your shower will still be beautiful and there will still be many elements that will be a surprise. So all is not ruined. You will have a wonderful day!

I'm so sorry she ruined it for you! I can kinda relate... I don't know when my shower is, but I told everyone the only thing I want, is for it to be a surprise... and I'm totally scared FMIL is going to ruin it (not on purpose, she's just from a totally different culture that doesnt do any of the 'extra' wedding stuff, so she probably wont think its a big deal or anything)

Try not to let knowing about it ruin your shower - if your FH is going to be the one taking you, blindfold yourself so you wont know where it is, plus you never know what other surprises your bridal party and mom may have planned!

what a jerk! i love surprises too and i feel the same way - My FHs mother is crazy (seriously) and when we got engaged he couldnt even tell her cause she has such a big mouth (but to be spiteful) one time i had a surprise birthday/going away party for him before he was sent to Iraq and she told him and i swear it was just to piss me off! GGGrrrrrr - in laws!

But - try to enjoy your shower and dont let that bother you - Im sure your BMs and your mom will make it beautiful for you!

ummm...janine....we are your friends first of all. and now i'm really upset too!!!

but no really, that's messed up. i'm so sorry she ruined it for you. i can't believe her! she had no right doing that? like why was she asking you in the first place? is she verifying with you?? she is crazy!!

well, at least you'll know to wear your best outfit....if you wanna look at this in a positive way.

thanks...I'm just pissed bc you can't get that surprise back....and now I'll know where i'm going... where is that beating a family member icon when you need it?

thanks jess, and from what I understand, every female invited is coming to the shower, so I have no idea where they are holding it...you can come if you beat this woman up in the alley...lol

I told FH not to tell me any other details....I don't know which day, or where it is...so now I have to practice my excited and surprised face...and when people ask me if it was a surprise, I am gonna answer, 'These girls surprised me with all of this, they did a great job!!'

I'm still bitter though..

I feel soo bad. Thats terrible. But you don't know who will be there, and your gifts are always a surprise. Spill some wine on her or something. Cause with my personality, I would, and just say ooooops

That's SOOOOO wrong. I totally feel you because I want mine to be a surprise, but now you should look at the positive side like someone else posted above... at least you won't be one of those brides that looks all disheveled at her shower

thanks girls, I knew you would understand....Normally I would have gone back at the woman and been like, yeah, thanks a lot, you ruined my week now...but I was totally taken aback by it....it truly took me off guard.

Wow. Can I just say that I'm a guy, even I KNOW not to do that? Who does that? Honestly?!
