FH's favor idea- what do you think HONESTLY

My FH and I were talking about favors. He wants to do a mini bottle of Jack (with our label on it) and a shot glass with our names and date on it.

What do you guys think of this idea? Like it /dont like it....why or why not?

omg. my fh had the same exact idea. I absolutely hate the idea more than anything. I still make comments about it to fh all the time. to be honest I think it's tacky to give liquor as a favor. I think that's a good thing for a guy to do for his bachelor party or something. or even a bday party.

it's one of our regular arguements. I can't even explain why I just hate it so much. fh is obsessed with jack. I'll probably get him a grooms cake that looks like a bottle of jack lol. but yeah I could never do that for a wedding. I want cutsey heart stuff, or love stuff. plus my family would never approve.

Although it is a unique idea, it requires a very specific type of audience. Are you having grandparents, teenagers, etc attending that do not drink? I would feel it excludes those people. Save it for an after-hours party or bachelor party favors. Just my opinion.

This would be my argument against the idea. When picking a favor you have to take all of your guests into account.

No... It requires that your guests actually like alcohol, specifcally Jack... (which I cant stand and would personally leave behind on the table...) you may have a ton of leftovers... is this what your FH is hopin for ??? LOL JK

i would say NO....

Jack is an alcohol with a specific taste... many people, even those that drink, do not like hard liquors like that...

I like the idea, but i might stick to wine, or a less 'harsh' hard alcohol like vodka or rum....

The thing I don't like about it is putting your names and date on the shot glass. I'm not into personalizing favors you want people to keep - JMHO. It's a matter of personal preference, though, so do what YOU and your FH like. I just know that, as much as people love us, they don't necessarily want things personlized with OUR name and wedding date -- I don't even really want our own name and wedding date etched into anything, unless we get a cake server or something like that.

I think it also depends on your crowd. I'd drink jack and take it home... but I'm not much into shot glasses.

I like it cus it is original. However- many people will not drink Jack like they would wine. But I personally think its cute.

In response to not everyone liking jack, also rememebr that you can't please everyone and if its what you guys want to do- then i think you should do it!!

I agree about the personalizing thing. its cute at the moment- but maybe not for future use. JMO. Otherwise I think the favors will be great!

I have really nothing new to add except a big fat ditto to what everyone else has said…I feel that not only does it leave out people who don’t drink, it leaves out people who don’t like whiskey and then even further narrowing it down, people who don’t like Jacks!

I have a compromise for you. Since many people dont drink Jack Daniels and everyone tends to like something different, why dont you do a variety of small bottles? You can set up a table for your favors wrap them in organza bags and have Mini bottles of Jack, Malibu, rum, vodka, etc. with the shot glasses....this way everyone can choose which one they like best. I would LOVE a favor like that at a wedding. It'd be a very unique and fun idea.

I think it's a great and cute idea. I would definitely like the favor although I would just put the bottle of jack in my china cabinet because I can't stand the taste of it!

I went to a wedding where my friends gave out a mini bottle of the absolut vodka and they printed their own labels that said 'absolutely perfect' and the name and the date. It was really cute!!! I say go for it.

I am not into the Jack thing either. Thats why we have been bickering about this. He wants to put them into boxes and wrap the boxes like people do with favors.

I would really feel uncomfortable giving my 80 year old grandma some Jack and a shot glass!! If he wants to do alcohol, why not a bottle of wine, IMO it is more classy.

agree with everyone it's a very specific gift. Is everyone attending a drinker? You may actually insult or upset someone, especially if a guest recovering alcoholic (a lot of times they don't really let everyone know that they are in the process of quitting) Definitely have a big long talk about that one

thats how I feel- he thinks I am nuts. When I suggested ice cream scoops he said ' who would use that'

I think more people would use that over JD and a shot glass
